Two Issues with version 4.6.3.50
First, my content library is behaving oddly. When I go to my Smart Content tab items are showing a missing icon with the yellow warning sign. When I try to load the item, it stays it isn't there. As an example, I go to Figures and try to load Michael 5. The icon is missing and the warning icon is in it's place, but when I click it, it says "Could not open file: /Characters/Michael 5.duf File does not exist'.
However, I go to the library and check and the file exists along with many others, some showing properly in the Smart Content/Figures window and some showing as missing.
Does this mean I need to remove all my content and reload it? That's close to 2500 products, not just files, but products that I've purchased, many with multiple installers and items. I would seriously not look forward to that.
Okay, my second one is also frustrating and hopefully has a solution. In the previous version, like 4.6.2.150 or some such... I used to pose the eyes on the character by using the tool in the main window where I could rotate using the XYZ apparatus, not the Pose slide bars. It was about a half inch in size on my screen and made it easy to see and use to make sure the character was looking at what I wanted it to look at, especially if I needed it to look at the camera.
On the new version, I can no longer see the XYZ apparatus. Either it's become so small that I can't see it or it's been removed from the program. I have tried using the three XYZ circle tool in the upper left corner of the main window, but it's not as useful for the eyes. For other parts of the body, I'm fine with that or the slide bars, but when it comes to the eyes, that XYZ apparatus that used to be there was awesome.
Please tell me there's a preference or some such I can turn on or change to get it back.

Okay, I found the tool after looking under the Tools menu, but I have to use the slide bars to still rotate the eye, but the tool I remember is the Translate tool. While I don't use it to translate the eye, I just want to rotate it, it does allow me to make sure I have it pointed in the right direction by moving my camera to the place I want the character to look at, then rotate it until the blue arrow is pointed directly at me on the screen.
I could have sworn I could grab the corners, not the arrows, and rotate the eye though. Still, it's better than not having it.
Now to fix my library. Ugh.
On the Content Library or Smart Content pane, click the options menu (rectangle with 4 horizontal lines in the upper corner) > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" sections, and post a screenshot. It sounds like the location your content is installed does not match where DS is looking for it, or the location it was in when the Smart Content icons were created.
That's odd then. I used DIM for all installations and I didn't change anything between the previous version and the new update from the other day. Why would an update move the location of my content? On top of that, my screenshot shows the content is there, so how does that work? If the content is there but the program says it isn't, I'm unsure how that it's in the wrong place. Uninstalling and reinstalling wouldn't fix the problem then if that's the case.
Here's the screenshot:
Here's a screenshot of the Smart Content that's shows the problem. The first screenshot I did was of the directory, which is shown in the second screenshot. You'll notice that the Genesis 2 Base Mail, Genesis and Gia are in the list in the first screenshot along with Michael 5 and Michael 6, and they seem unaffected. Some files are not being seen and others are. I'm unsure what the reason is but it appears random in time of installation and usage on my part. I installed Michael 4 and Genesis before Michael 5 and I installed Gia after Michael 5.
I too came in this morning. Fired up the program. It asked for some update and without looking I said ok. Afterwards I have not been able to see any smart content. I have reinstalled the programs and still have no luck. I have spent all day trying to figure this out. Glad but sad to see that someone else is having the problem. I wish I could go back to my old version. I read this article:
https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/22523891-Trouble-shooting-the-Smart-Content-Pane
and followed the instructions but it did not help. Maybe this will solve your problem.
So far, the best solution I've found is Re-Importing the Metadata. If you make the Smart Content tab the active tab, you can then right-click the tab and select the first item 'Content DB Maintenance'. When the dialog comes up, try checking the 'Re-Import Metadata...' and click Accept. This worked for me, but I did Reset Database before I did this so that might be required, not completely sure.
I am having another issue though: When loading Genesis into the main window, whether from the Smart Content or Content Library windows doesn't matter, I keep getting a 'Duplicate formulas found in files' error. Now, since I've always used DIM to install all content, I'm curious why I keep getting this. I was even getting this prior to the latest update. I can click the 'Ok' button and it continues and still places Genesis in the window and appears to have no problems, but the error is concerning.
Here's a screenshot:
Help>Troubleshooting>View Log file and see which properties are throwing the error. that's a very old issue, all the DAZ morphs should have been updated before we had zips or DIM.
I found that the offending files were both non-Daz files. One is a sock morph that was posted on ShareCG. I downloaded it again and it appears that it was updated, so I removed the old one and installed the new one. That fixed the ID issue.
The second one is from HFS Shapes. One of the free morph additions has several bugs in it apparently, so I've contacted the author and let him know. Hopefully it will be fixed soon and I can use the morph again.
I had the same problem with my content library after the update on an iMac. It was mostly with Genesis or Genesis 2 content. The problem was corrected by following the procedure you outlined. Note that the database reset was required. In my case the full procedure that worked was:
1. export the user metadata
2. reset the database
3. re-import the metadata
The problem was not with the location of the library itself, but rather corruption of the path entries for some items within it. The path entries for the missing files were odd - they were in the right library location, but had inappropriate directories inserted. For example, a wardrobe item that should have been under "Genesis/Clothing/Product/Item" would have a path of "Genesis/Lights/Clothing/Product/Item".
