Looking for hair for G3 and/or G8 with widows peak bangs and a short bob hair style reminiscent of Lt. Gay Ellis, Lt. Nina Berry, and Lt. Joan Harrington.  Just have to find the right Silver shaders for the miniskirts and body suits.  Anyoine know how to make a SHADO badge?

This is an old V4 hair but works fine on G8.  It has several bang morhps where you can achieve something like this, I've used OOTs IrayPair shader here and Cutout opacity set at 1.50.

  • I found one by Ed-Art over on Rendo that works real well and is a fair representation of Shado Moon Base Hair.

I recently came across those as well... they are SciFi Hair for G3F and SciFi Hair for G8F (by EdArt3D at Rendo).

Yep, was about to mention the EdArt3d sci-fi hair - I'm fairly certain it was designed with S.H.A.D.O. personnel in mind.

***edit*** - UFO trivia point - I remember there was an interview where they mentioned the purple hair, and it was meant to be a wig that made up part of their uniforms because fashion wigs had become very popular in late 60's, so they thought why not incorporate wigs into the uniform the same way hats are normally part of a uniform... and that's the reason why all the female personnel had purple hair.

Haven't tried it myself yet... looks very versatile, but it also looks really resource heavy.

It's an excellent product - it can't do the widow's peak and can't quite go short enough for the sci-fi design in question, but for action shots it could work as a substitute when dforce is needed.

I've not used it much so far, but when I have used it, dforce drape worked great and very stable in scene and rendering - quality product that I would recommend to anyone looking for dforce hairstyles.

This is the hairstyle in question...

I have had the best luck making moonbase hair out of Matilda Hair For Genises 8 Female(s), by Daz Originals.
I put it on a G3F and adjusted it using morphs that are hidden, I think. Widow's peak shape uses the "brow" part of the rigging.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in the settings I used, let me know and I will reveal them.

Johanna Hair, over at renderosity has a widow's peak and the bangs are really easy to isolate and extract as a prop. You can then remove the bangs from any hair and use the prop for the widos's peak. The UV's for Johanna hair bangs take generic vertical hair textures, so matching the colors is very easy.

If you don't want to invest in an out of date product, I'm sure there are mor modern products that can be used the same way.

Cool. I'll produce a preset and supplemental instructions for modifying the Matilda hair, and release it as a freebie. It will take me up to a week to release it. The bulk of the work is in making the supplemental instructions with accompanying pictures. It turns out that a preset won't handle the widow-peak-V bangline at all, so the user must do all that without the help of a preset. And it gets even more complicated doing the bangs for a G8F figure. Counter-intuitively, doing the bangs is easier for G3F, much harder for G8F, even though the Matilda hair was made for G8F.

    ...

Psyche, I got it finished today, actually. Here it be: https://www.deviantart.com/luqu/art/Hair-Moonbase-Wig-for-Matilda-Hair-for-G8F-V1-923091580

I have Johanna hair already and I like it. I use it on one of my re-occuring G3F/G8F characters.

But it never occured to me to use it for just the bangs.

Johanna Hair is poser vintage, so no need to export the obj. You could strip the unwanted geometry out using a 3D editor, but I just used a UV mapper program and deleted everything I didn't want.

When I said "Remove the bangs", hiding them works just as well and has less chance of messing something else up.

I don't remember which program, but either DS or Poser (maybe both) used to have a problem where multiple hair items would slow down ray tracing because of interacting transparencies.
