3Delight - error during rendering

I have one scene which (usually) will not render. I kick the rendering off & after a minute or so it displays "Error during rendering" in a popup (no output files generated). Trying again gets a popup saying "Unable to render: renderer already in use" - at that point I can't render anything without shutting down DAZ studio & restarting it.

The obvious conclusion is there is something wrong with this saved scene. However, if I cut it into pieces, I can then render all the pieces quite happily. Once, when I remerged all the pieces into one it did render. Unfortunately I wanted to make a slight change & now it won't render again. 

It is quite a large scene, and I have many scene files with fundamentally the same scene - just different lip syncs & other minor animation differences - this is the only one which refuses to render. I've tried repeating the "cut into pieces & remerge" trick but that isn't working. And I have many other scenes, all with no problem.

Is there anywhere I might find more status than the simple "Error during rendering" on the popup?

Have you tried Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File?

In a bizarre twist, it is now not failing. The log file seems to only keep "the most recent xxxx" and so anything pertaining to when this happened has gone. I will look there straight away if it happens again
