Custom eyelash fitting

kavkav Posts: 23

Hi there,

I've modeled new eyelashes for my figure and imported them into Daz. They almost look right. There are just a few slight gaps between the upper lash and lid that I would like to fix. But if I fit the newly imported lashes back to the figure, they go haywire and look terrible. Before trying to fit they look ok-ish, but I'll always be having to photoshop the gaps for each render. And obviously they don't follow any posing without being "fit to" the character, so that's another huge downside.

It will take a forever amount of back and forths between my modeling program and Daz to model out the gaps, and that still won't solve the posing issues. Is there a way in Daz to fit by point? Or is there any other workflow to this?

(Unfortunately this won't simply be a matter of customization via photoshoping the cutout opacity. An actual resculpt of the lashes was necessary to fit my character.)

Thanks!

Have you tried fitting the eyelashes to the G8F eyelashes instead of G8F herself? That may yield better results.

Edited: Sorry, wrong terminology. I mean, use the G8F eyelashes in the transfer utility on your eyelashes.

So, that helps with getting the lashes to follow posing. I can close the lids and the lashes will track.

However, the shaping gets even more messed up than before. The curve of the lashes still doesn't match the shape of the lids and still has gaps or worse gaps.

Here's the full method of what I'm doing that seems to work best so far. But any suggested tweaks to this so I can get the job done would be appreciated.

    1. rigging > convert prop to figure
    2. parent figure part to figure main
    3. transfer utility > source = gen lash / target = custom lash, checked closest vertex first (no visible effect), checked content type = follower/att/head/face/eyelash which seems to help with posing

But I'm all out of ideas from here.
