V4 Custom morphs to G8?

Hello,

is there a way to use my custom V4 headmorphs, made in Zbrush, for G8 female?

Thank you

You need to use the Generation X 2 Plug in (and the Genesis 2 and 3 expansions) to get the V4 morph onto Genesis 3, and then use either https://www.daz3d.com/xtransfer--genesis-3-to-genesis-8-converter or https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-3-female-to-genesis-8-female to get from G3F to G8F

  • Here is my workflow. GenX the morphs to G3. Load G3 with morphs. Export base res obj. Zero G3. Import obj as new morph and rig with Shape Rigger. Save morph. Use X-transfer. I have occasionally had some rigging problems after that, but exporting and importing to rerig has taken care of those. You will not get any of your JCMs along with, so extreme bends may not look great.

I don't know anything about rigging. I only want to use the headmorphs I did for V4 a long time ago in Zbrush

  • Don't need to know anything about rigging. It's a script that handles it for you.

There is also a G2 to G8 converter and both are on sale at the moment. Would the G2 to G8 be good also?
  • As long as the slowing down of g8 problem has been fixed, which Riversoft says it has, yeah.

Probably yes, particularly for head morphs, although I don't own that converter, so I can not say what it is like. The converters tend to struggle for more extreme morphs, but if yours are for non-stylised humans, you should be alright..

  • The reason I use the export-import with Shape Rigger is that XTransfer has problems with GenX morphs. By exporting and reimporting them, they work just fine.

I have not tried using the Riversoft converter on a GenX morph as yet.

I had the opposite experience. XTransfer did a near perfect transfer of GenX morphs, where as the other solutions tend to do less well, particularly on an extreme morph like A3.

    Not for me it hasn't.

I got A3 to G8, using genX and X Transfer.

The latest version of XTransfer resolves the GenX issues it used to have.
