Installation is very confusing Can someone please help here

edited December 1969 in Daz Studio Discussion

I m poser User& I need the genesis 2 in my poser.
so i installed a daz studio 4.6 and then I try to install it the Michael 6 I open the installation of Michael 6 and finds 3 files and in the file ther is folder Called "content" inside the content I finds 3 folder "data" "People" & "runtime" what I do with it ? Where do I put them ?

When I installed the software, I chose the option of creating a personal content library. I created my own content library called "DAZSTUDIO CONTENT" As I made for Poser content. but in poser I see the content. in daz I do not know where to put the directories "data" "People" & "runtime" ????

Your software is amazing in her abilities but why to install this content so complicated to be explained ?

All of the stuff inside the folder called 'content' should be dropped into your DAZ Studio Library folder, yours appears to be called 'DAZ STUDIO CONTENT' Simply drop everything that is inside the folder called 'content' into your DAZ STUIDO CONTENT folder.

If you want to see the items inside DAZ Studio, you will need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and list the path to your content folder as BOTH DAZ Studio AND Poser Formats.

Thanks, now I see the content

But now he informs me that the Genesis is not existing in my startup

Where do I get or buy the model of the Genesis or Genesis 2 ?

Is that where Genesis is? That's the default load item, set in Edit>Preferences>Start up (or possibly in Edit>Preferences>Scene) - either change the item to point to the current location of the figure you want by clicking the path and selecting Browse or simply switch off the option to have an item load on launch, as suits you.

Thank you for your help but it just does not work I tried everything but it seems that changing the Location of library content is not doing well with the content.
I will be installing the software again and I not change the location of the content directory and see if it will work.

Incredible, software such high quality with so much potential but to install it should be a pilot ......

I tried to reinstall the software and still she persists to save the settings of the previous installation that the folder I created.
I deleted the software again and then I deleted all directories relating daz Studio even the folder inside the program Data and then after installing the software is still looking for the content that taqiyyah created in the past.
How do I delete the history of the program where it sits on the computer????

Uninstalling and reinstalling will not remove settings, and shouldn't - think how annoying it would be if reinstalling wiped users' carefully configured options. You need to go to Edit>Preferences>Startup and uncheck the option to load a file or change the file location so it points to the actual location of \People\Genesis\Genesis.duf, if that's what you want to load. In the second screenshot you are attempting to load the metadata file for the built in content which isn't a file you should be directly accessing.

Believe me leave the preferences settings of the current content library much more annoying.

Anyway I tried to do what you suggest. And canceled the automatic upload and I uploaded manually the Genesis 2 and guess what? Even now, he announces to the missing file!!!
So, I took over the program and installed the version 4.5 and guess what? Here too is not giving up the Genesis ... again missing file.
I think this is a bug in version 4.6 but in order not to lose my temper with the decision not to tell me where you can delete the history of the software and now also remained nervous and without software.
Thank you anyway for your help

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" sections, and post a screenshot, along with the current error message you're getting.

If the OP is not using DSON for Poser can they even use the DAZ Studio content? I see nothing mentioned about the User needing the DSON importer for Poser or that they have it installed and are using it.

Where exactly is the Genesis Base Male file located on your system?

The 3rd path under DAZ Studio Formats needs to be removed.

What is the full path to Genesis2Male.dsf?

  • edited December 1969

    c:\dazstudio Content\Content\People\Genesis 2 Male\Genesis 2 Base Male

You need to drop the contents of the 'content' folder into your DS Library folder, you do NOT place the 'content' folder in there as well, JUST the folders it contains.

You need to move everything up one level, and get rid of the now empty 'content' folder

    Instead of:
    c:\dazstudio Content\Content\People\Genesis 2 Male\Genesis 2 Base Male
    it should be:
    c:\dazstudio Content\People\Genesis 2 Male\Genesis 2 Base Male

That extra folder named "Content" is causing the files not to be found.

Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you.

But it does not cost me a Poser, It does not write any error in Poser and look as if it loads the model but did not see anything Maybe you know why ?

Does the path you gave Poser to look for the runtime have the extra "Content" subfolder?

  • edited December 1969

I did not give a path to poser how I check what is the path in poser ?

You should have c:\dazstudio Content listed as a Library inside your version of Poser.

You enter the path to the folder that 'holds' the Runtime folder, and Poser can then find the Runtime folder and all of the sub-folders too.
