Unable to get dForce hair to move during simulation/animation

I'm using dForce Rozarie hair.

https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-rozarie-hair-for-genesis-8--3-females

I've set a spin animation and simulate it but the hair doesn't move at all, like it's frozen on her head. I'm a complete noob at Daz, and I don't know what else there is to try.

I've set the simulation settings to "Animated (Use Timeline Play Range)" and turned off "Start Bones From Memorized Pose." I've set both the Hidden and Render scalp to "Add dForce Modifier: Dynamic Surface." I've tried adjusting gravity and air resistance and that doesn't change anything. I've made wind nodes, and those have an effect. And it falls on the ground, when she's lying down, so there's gravity at least. It's just the animations that don't seem to be doing anything. Or maybe I'm just not seeing it.

I've got it to work once before but I have no idea how I was able to do it. I don't remember doing anything else to get it to move but now I can't seem to repeat it. I must have Simulated a hundred times, trying different settings, and each one comes out with no movement.

None of the tutorial vids I've watched didn't have any answers. I appreciate any help.

On the product page are 2 instructional images. Use the timeline with lots of frames for it to set up. [something like 400 at least]. Also mentions to be careful to select the right part of the hair for this.

  • Sorry, I've tried those things. I can make the hair move going from pose to pose, but it doesn't seem to move when I use animations. I mean those preset animations.

Okay. This is just an idea [I obviously don't own that hair yet] With just the figure in the scene [i.e. no hair], load the preset animation - at each of the significant positions, save out a pose. Might want to number them sequentially. Clear the scene, load the figure, hair, etc. and now going from pose to pose?

  • That works and the hair moves, since it's just pose to pose. The problem is it doesn't have all of the micro movements between the poses the animation has, otherwise, I'd have to tediously key every frame.

I know it can work with the animation, so I'll keep messing around with key poses.
