Creating my own custom morph
Hey there. I'm just trying to consolidate 100+ morphs into a single morph target. This isn't for redistribution, just for me. I spent forever tweaking my G2 to get it absolutely perfect and I want to save the morph so I can just restore it later on if I need to. I mean, I guess I could go line by line and write down all the values in a notebook, but I see that there is a "Save geometry as a morph target" sort of option, so that seems easier..except:
Here's what I've done:
1) Removed everything from G2 (Hair, clothes, etc)
2) set the Resolution Level to "Base", SubDivision to "0", Edge Interpolation to "Sharp Edges and Corners" (I was looking at a tutorial on this and I just set it exactly as she had set hers)
3) Something with eyelashes?!?!? (This may be where we need help)
4) Export as .obj - Scale set to "Daz Studio", scale "100%". Checked boxes are "Ignore Invisible Nodes", "Write UV Coordinates", "Write Normals", "Write Faces", "Write Polylines", "Write Object Statements", "Write Groups -Use Existing Groups", "Write Surfaces- Write Material Library - Original Maps"
5) Delete figure (Or Zero the figure)
6) Load a fresh G2, no morphs dialed.
7) Edit -> Figure -> Morph Loader Pro settings: "From": Daz Studio (1 unit = 1cm), "Load Morphs For" Primary Figure (Vertex Only), No changes to the actual morph.
8) Warning: Geometry did not match, failed to create morph.
I believe there is something on step 3 about deleting eyelashes or something... I have zero clue how to delete eyelashes... I didn't even know we COULD modify the mesh in any way internally. Is this what's going on? If so, could someone tell me how to do this in Captain Dummy Talk?
Thanks!

Deleting eyelashes is for G8, which has eyelashes as a separate mesh. I just loaded G2F, increased random morphs, exported with default settings and imported through morph loader with default settings, and it worked. I can't see anything you're doing wrong, unless it matters that you're not setting your clean G2 figure to base resolution also.
edit: nope, importing onto a G2F in high resolution worked, too. Maybe turn the clean G2 to subd 0 also?
If you can’t get morph loader to work, or just want to try a different route, you could use ERC Freeze.
Thank you for going through that for me :D
Hmm.... Maybe I have something attached to her that I don't know about?
So... this "ERC Freeze" you say? Care to elaborate? :D
Wait... I'm getting the "Duplicate ID's" error and have been for a year or so now. I haven't given that much thought until right now (I thought it was just a borked install of G2 and since I was going to reinstall at some point -hence why I want to "bake" the characters I have made- I didn't think about it) That's a MORPH issue. I'm going to work that problem and see if that fixes it. I'll report back to you in a bit.
Don't try spawning a new custom morph as it will lose any links (e.g. to corrective morphjs for expressions or bends) so the result will not work as well as the original. A Shaping Preset will save the settings in a single file you can reapply (with the original morphs installed). Another option is to have your figure with the shape applied but otherwise zeroed, right-click on the Parameters pane and put it in Edit mode, right-click iin the group you want to have a master slider in (e.g. Actor>People)>reate New Property, set its type to Modifier>Shape and name it for your character, then set the value to 100%, right-click on it>ERC Freeze, double-check only the proeprties you want are affected and delselect any interlopers, then click Accept. You now have a sldier that triggers all of the morphs you used so you can have intermediate values of the shape without having to divide all the individual values, and you can save it using File>Save As>Support Assets>Morph Asset.
The log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File) will list one of the proeprties causign each issue, search for Duplicate to find the relevant lines
Alrighty... The "Growing Up" Morphs were borked from a long time ago. I followed the instructions and fixed them... (What a can of worms this is becoming... The notepad is looking rather tasty at the moment ;) :D)
Same problem. Still getting the "Warning: Geometry did not match, failed to create morph."
I'll look at "ERC Freeze".
So, looking it up, I don't think "ERC Freeze" will work in this case. That looks like (And correct me if I'm wrong) something that locks all of the morphs together in one slider. I'm specifically looking to make a morph file that I can load on my Surface which may or may not have all 70 zillion morph packages I've got here on my big computer.
I use Daz for my comics to keep me consistant (Otherwise my characters get bigger or smaller or buffer or thinner etc) and it's very important to me that the characters I create stay the same size/shape from episode 1 all the way to episode 90 (Which may have to be written from my grave... I accept that). So I'm looking for a "Character A" morph target to keep the size correct.
So, anyone have anywhere else I could look on fixing this warning?
Thanks guys, I do appreciate it. I never trip over the easy stuff...
Dammit... I got it guys.
Important note: Check for all items attached to character before doing this... this would include piercings that you put on them, then decided you weren't going to go that route, then forgot about them when you morphed the character SO much that the piercing was inside the body (I finally zeroed the original character and POP! There was a belly button piercing... *sigh*).
Thanks folks! We can close this.
