ground missing

tophandtophand Posts: 123

forgive me if I posted this earlier  - I have TBI (too many concussions) and either I can't find the post I wrote earlier or I didn't press post.

Anyway, my renders are coming out very well except for the last 2 days, the ground doesn't render. Items that are directly on the ground render perfectly but the ground is just the checkerboard that pretty much translates to "ain't nothin' there Jack".  Since I have been using DAZ for a couple of years now and this problem has never appeared before, I am assuming that some anonymous dope clicked the wrong button *somewhere*

Any idea as to where?

PS I am doing far better than the intial prognosis with TBI. My neurologist attributes a lot of my success to DAZ because I have to exercise my brain and remember where things are. Maybe this would help someone else with memory issues

What render engine are you using (3Delight or Iray)? If Iray, are you rendering with an HDRI for lighting in the Render Settings? If so, do you have Draw Dome on and Draw Ground on?

Thanks for the reply. I am using Iray. In this instance I am using an HDRI for lighting (not using the background). Draw Dome and Draw Ground are both on

If you have Draw Dome and Draw ground on, they *should* be rendered in the scene. There shouldn't be any checkerboard blank areas.

Go to the Render Settings  and select the Editor tab at the top. In the list of sections (General, Render Mode, Progressive Renderings, etc.), do you have a Canvases section at the bottom after Environment? If so, did you intend to render to canvases? Some canvases intentionally render only parts of a scene. If you do have a Canvases section and you did not intend to do that, go to the Advanced tab on the Render Settings pane and then select the Canvases tab on that page. (The Canvases tab can be difficult to see, depending on your Daz Studio color scheme. On mine it is gray on gray and nearly invisible.) Uncheck the Canvases checkbox.

I'm not seeing a canvases section.  Attached is a jpg of my environment settings.  See anything amiss there?   I have been using the program for several years now and this is a new thing so I know some dumbass clicked something somewhere.  The dumbass is question prefers to remain anonymous

A thought?  Is there a way to reset all render settings to default?

You have Draw Dome OFF. You said earlier that it was ON. Turn it ON. I think that will resolve your problem.

There is a Default button right under the blue Render button
