Daz Studio 4.12 Pro Render issues

Just a question really. I upgraded to 4.12 yesterday and i'm wondering how Daz handles memory and rendering.
I have a scene with 3 G8 models. If I try rendering with 2 models, I get a render done in 30 mins. (I'm rendering pretty lores for my needs).
This happens if I switch between any of the three models and render two of them at a time.
If I try rendering 3 at once, render times increase exponentially. I mean a jump to nearly 2 hours and it wasn't finished?
I'd assumed that once the textures and geometry were loaded into memory, away the renderer went but this seems really strange to me?
Can someone explain why this happens?
Thanks!
Running Daz Studio 4.12

The GPU was probably running out of memory with thrtee figures. Depending on which version you upgraded from you may have ess effetive GPU memory now as for non-RTX cards, like yours, Iray passes some extra code to the GPU to emulate the RTX features. Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File after a render will let you see the stats, at or near the end of the file, including which device did how much of the render.
Thanks for the reply! I think I upgraded from 4.10. One noticable difference was the reduction of firefles in the new version.
Would I be better off returning to the older version to work from for my GPU card?
How were your results with 4.10? And do you still have a copy of 4.10?
If you're otherwise satisfied with 4.12, try reducing the memory footprint with Scene Optimizer. No good reason to use 4k texture maps for anything but closeups, and no need for displacement maps and sss for middle ground and background objects.
Another way to massively reduce the memory footprint and rendering time by at least an order of magnitude by rendering the environment (everything but the G8 models) as an HDRI (place a spherical camera at the point of view) and converting it to an HDRI, then replacing the environment with the HDRI.
