Realism

Hello;

Hopefully some of you with experience (and a good eye) can tell me where i can find one of the most (or the most realistic ) character that is available at the moment.

And yes i know that "realism" is a very subjective matter and everyone has a different opinion of what they consider to be realistic...but i mean i am so tired of vendors coming up with perfect doll face characters with super smooth and clean skin textrures.  I am aiming for realism as much as is possible.

Which character (or characters) do you guys consider that stand out from the rest (in terms of realistic looking)

Ideas?...

    So,  to be clear, you are looking for imperfections and asymmetry?

    Well...that also...but mostly the character has to have a realistic looking face...no dolly looking face like most characters out there have.  I mean more like a real human being, if you know what i mean...

    No idea what you mean since I see model types daily. Guess it comes down to where you live.

    Not really, no - it's too vague. Obviously there are characters that are stylised or toony, but there are a lot that aren't intended that way nor generally perceived that way.

    Off the bat, I'd have to say check out Bluejaunte's store. All of those characters are quite realistic to me and don't have the shiny smoothness that you mentioned. They also have extremely nice skin textures and come with asymetry morphs that you can dial in or out or use on other characters. If you have UV Swap, you can use those skins on male figures too and they look good. Actually, a lot of characters that look too smooth and perfect only need small tweaks to their texture settings to bring out details in the skin and some asymetry in their faces to make them look a lot less model-like. Most of the Genesis 8 Daz Originals (the ones with 8 in the name) are easy to make look believable under good lighting. Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Dasan 8 has been my favorite lately for a more realistic man. I just turn down the translucency of his skin so he's less oversaturated. Mixing a little bit of Ollie 8 into any male character can also give nice results. There's this guy, who I don't have, but looks pretty real. Or this guy. Saiyaness characters are always great quality. Raiya's characters are very good. Honestly, there are tons of characters that look very real when combined with good lights and surroundings. The character itself is only part of what make things look real in a render. A lot of realism in 3D also depends on the hair and clothes, lighting, poses, and expressions. I've seen plenty of characters in the store that look slightly doll-like/unreal in one person's renders (for example, my renders, lol) but look fantastic and real in someone else's artwork.

    My suggestion would be rather than hunting for a perfectly realistic character, to invest in some good shaping morphs and asymetry morphs and use those to adjust a the base shape or a purchased character that's close to what you're after. Another good investment is Altern8 for making easy adjustments to skin textures.

    I hope that helps a little!
