Help/Suggestion for Tiling and Cutout Opacity?

TirroTirro Posts: 4

Hello,

Is there a way to increase the Tiling (horizontal and/or vertical) and keep the Cutout Opacity tiling only at 1?

I have fabric shaders that I will tile 4 x4 and that like-wise increased the Cutout Opactiy so i end up with several 'holes' instead of one.

My current solution is to take the fabric texture and edit it in a image editor to 4x4, then save and use it on 1x1 tiling so I can use the cutout. However doing it every time for texture, bump, normal.

There might be a simple solution I'm missing.

Yes. You can tile the main texture how you want, then go to the Cutout Opacity control and click on the micro-thumbnail to the left. From the pop-up menu, select Image Editor, then the Instance Tiling tab. To maintain the original tiling for the Opacity, set the tiling to the inverse of the tiling used for the texture. It won't show in the preview unless you use Iray preview mode.

Conversely, you can keep the original tiling at 1.0 and change all the other channels' (base, bump, normal, etc.) tiling, but that would be more tedious.

    Thanks,

That works. The main texture was set to 4, I went into the Image Editor and set to .25 and it works.

I guess the formulate is:  1/X = Amount    (where x is the tiling number)

    Thanks again.
