Goldtassel hairs slow down my studio/computer

My studio/computer just slows down a lot when I apply any of Goldtassel hair onto my genesis 8 character, to the point of freezing when I switch to Iray Preview. The weird thing is that, other hairs by other vendors don't give rise to this issue... Only Goldtassel's ones. It's a shame because I love all hairs by Goldtassel.
Any ideas why does this happen?

Some hairs from certain vendors do use a lot of RAM and other ressources. How much RAM do you have? If it seems to freeze it may be because it runs out of RAM and starts swapping to disk.
I think you're right... I only have 8 GB of RAM.
Below is my Acer Nitro 5 Specs
Intel Core i5 i5-8300H 2.30 GHz Quad-core
Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 4GB GDDR5
8 GB RAM DDR4
1 TB Storage
Windows 10 Home
I'm thinking of buying a new laptop just for Daz to run smoother. Any recommendation?
That laptop should have a spare slot, so it would be easy to add some RAM. It would be a good inexpensive upgrade all round while you're deciding about upgrading the whole thing.

Generally desktops are better for rendering which puts a heavy load on CPU/GPU which may cause heat problems in laptops.
Some hair models load by default with smoothing turned on, and this can slow down the preview in my experience. The smoothing is not always necessary if you dial in a few adjustment morphs first. Try turning it off to see if that helps.

That's a good example of hair that is very taxing in just interactive mode for some reason. Comes with a quick function to turn off preview just so you can keep working on your model.
