Possible to save a shader preset with only favorites?

So I love saving partial material and shader presets. Currently I am going through and saving only the diffuse overlay on 20 different objects which means for every material zone I have to navigate to it in the preset save options. It takes about 6 clicks per material zone. So if there are 20 objects each with an average of 3 material zones... it gets a bit repeditive
pls tell me I'm being a dumb dumb and missing something

Can you Ctrl-click and save your preferences as the default?
You mean as in ctrl-clicking a material preset? (or am I missunderstanding and there's something else I can ctrl click) I'm going in the opposite direction. specifially I am trying to save a bunch of presets where I add a diffuse overlay controlled by a texture but I want my preset to leave all the other material settings, images etc alone. the only way I can figure to do this is manually selecting in the save material preset dialog box
AAAAAAnd I've figured out a workaround
1st make a shader with all values set to their default and save that as a shader preset with only the elements you want to keep unchecked
apply that shader to all your objects so that all elements other than the element you're interested in are set to the default
in the save material shader dialogue box pick check only modified
now I'm just annoyed because Ive been doing this a slower way for literal years
