Categorized Content Missing - but only partially??
So, I've gone through my content and created my own categories and sorted my content that way. I've found it easier to have all of V4's clothing in one spot or all my bladed props together. For example:
People
\ Gen 3
\ Gen 4
\Michael 4
\M4 Clothing
\Victoria 4
\ V4 Clothing
\ V4 Hair
\ Genesis
\ Genesis 2
Props
\ Vehicles
\ Air
\ Land
\ Space
\ Weapons
\ Blades
\ Guns
These are just examples and, of course, the list is not complete. But today I noticed that some of the categories were gone. For instance in my People category the Gen 4 grouping was gone and under Props, Vehicles were gone. All the content is still in its original DAZ Studio Formats & Poser Formats folders but my categorizations are essentially worthless.
I'm totally baffled as to how some of my categories were gone and others aren't. All my Weapons categories under Props fine but Vehicles under Props is not there any more. Gen 2, Gen 3, Genesis and Genesis 2 categories are there but Gen 4 is gone. It's really bizarre!
Anyone have any ideas how this happened?

Well People and Vehicle are Default Category names, when you install new content the Database grabs those to use for itself over and over. Be sure you change any name of a folder the Default uses just enough and that should stop it. Also be sure you Export User Data after every update you do to your categories to have a back up just in case an error pops up in the file.
Should Not happen if you are building on the default folders but I never did that so have not had it happen, as of yet. I use my own folders under Default for my DB and setup.
This is not in the default categories. In the Content Library, in top most level there is DAZ Studio Formats, Poser Formats, Other Import Formats, Products and Categories.
If you browse to an item in your Content Library and right click on it one of the menu options from the pop up menu is 'Categorize'. I've gone and created a 'Mine' category under Categories. The 'Mine' category is divided up into the subcategories Environments, People, Props, etc. and those are divided into further subcategories, and I've had them for a few years. This is all outside the default DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats folders.
What's happened is that some of my created subcategories have disappeared.
Then your Database has a error. You should Re-Import metadata with the User Data override ticked. That loads the User Data back from your last save of your User Data (categories are included in User Data not just hand made Metadata). I always do Export User Data after every update to categories I make. I then check my stuff the next open to see if all my stuff is there. If not I can Re-Import and get it back to my last save. Sometimes I have to redo a lot but I've never lost it all yet.
