not finding content from other vendors
My hard drive got full so I purchased an eternal. I moved all my content to the new drive and set the directory preferences in DAZ appropriately. Now, all the content I have purchased from DAZ is in the content library but none of the content purchased from other vendors shows, I checked and the material is physically there. For example I have several gen 8 female characters from SASE. They are in people/genesis 8 female/characters/SASE but don't show in the library. I have tried setting the search method to file name. Didn't help

What is the exact file name and extension of one of the files that doesn't show up?
Can you go to F2 > Content Library, click on Content Directory Manager, expand all 4 sections, and post a screenshot?
Is that screenshot the Content library tab or the Smart content tab?
Items from other stores may not have metadata for Smart Content.
the screen shot is of the content library tab, not the smart content. Screen shots attached of files and content directory manager
This would just be an example of what's not showing in the content library. It's not limited to characters. Poses, props, anything not purchased from DAZ doesn't show. Again, not using Smart Content. I know they won't show there. They were all there and in use before I copied the material to the new hard drive
Why is the text for the folder names not black in the first screen shot? Is the folder encrypted or otherwise non-standard?
Richard, that was me trying to highlight the files to make them stand out from the files that do show in the library. In further weirdness, I just loaded a character created on the old hard drive using a character base and clothing that doesn't show in the content library and it loaded just fine. I just can't create any new stuff using that material
It could be the "Data" folder that is in the path. Studio uses a "data" folder for all non user accessible files so it could confuddle things.
You have your F: drive "My DAZ 3D Library" defined in the content directory manager under "Other Import Formats" - surely it should be defined as an additional entry under "DAZ Studio Formats" - or are these files not in DS format?
Yes, you should have "F:/My DAZ 3D Library" under "Daz Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats". Where did that other path come from? Do you have DIM installing there?
Ok....now I am *throughly* dazed and confused. I have several computers. All have the same content. The one with the problem is just the one I prefer to use. I created a character on another computer using just content that wouldn't load on the preferred one to see if it would find the content and load. It not only loaded just fine and rendered just fine, now the content shows on the preferred computer. Did loading that character force DAZ to locate that content???? Anyway . . .problem seems to have solved itself.
LOL. I'm a rancher. Cattle I understand. Technology? Not so much. All this computer stuff comes with smoke built in and it works better after you let the smoke out.
Thanks to all that responded
No letting smoke out usually means a capicator has blown, literally blown.
