How to apply material to OBJ? on the example of a table.

I can't make the table marble, After applying the shader the table remains monotonous. Help achieve the desired effect.

    Is the table UV-mapped?

If it isn't UV unwrapped, then all you may get is the colour from the texture.

No, I don't know about that.

No it isn't or you don't know? If the latter select the model and its surfaces, then select the UV View for the Viewport and you will see any mapping there may be.

it's empty, How to create it? Is there a plug or by hand?

depending on what you need it for, it might be easiest to export it to hexagon and use one of its standard UV mapping layouts before sending it back to daz.
if you want more control or want to texture it later it'd probably be best to unwrap the table manually.

alternatively if you made the table yourself, whatever you made it in should have a UV mapping function.

  • Sounds like a great opportunity to learn a little Blender. As with everything else, Blender Guru has more than one excellent guide to UV mapping on YouTube. Important will be aligning the creases with the sharp edges of your table.

    +1

Although, looking at that table, I'd create using Studio primitives scaled appropriately if modeling etc is not your thing.

I've attached a rough copy of the table; it uses the marble texture included with Iray, you can replace it with what you want; just drop it in your library; I haven't checked the paths since moving it but it should work - let me know if not.

It might not be obvious from the image, but the table doesn't have sharp corners (I hate em), there is a small bevel.
