Vexing hair graft issue

I'm new to DAZ (used poser in the past but it's been many years).  I'm having an issue with the skin tones showing dark blue, where the hair/head interface is.  It happens with all the hair products and all the Genesis 8 characters.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Some hair assets have a base material that you need to apply first, which (I believe) copies from the figure's skin material to make them match.  Check in the materials that go with that hairstyle to see if there is one (normally at the top of the list).

    If it's not that, then I'll have to defer to the more experienced users.
