I purchased the Greylien character (Daz Originals) and opened it in Daz Studio 4.12. The eyes should be completely black, but there is a white circle surrounding the pupil area. (See attached picture.) I cannot get rid of these white circles in the eyes. What could be causing this? How do I correct it?

I don't have these problems rendering with the Iray render engine.
But I also have your problems rendering with the 3Dlight render engine.
Looking at the product's page: https://www.daz3d.com/greylien-hd-for-genesis-8-male 3Dlight is also not mentioned. You would have to convert the materials yourself. However I'm not sure how difficult this is, because I use only the Iray render engine.
