Why is Daz Studio connecting with blackmesh.com?

So I was waiting for Daz to close down, and wanted to see what it was up to.  And I saw this:

I don't know what blackmesh.com is, but going to the site leads me to the home page of a company called Contegix, some kind of CMS/web hosting company.  So while I'm waiting for daz to shut down, it's busy with some service I have not asked them to connect to.  I don't use Connect, so IDK what the deal is, or why Daz is telling them good-bye.

It's there their DIM server (and possibly other of their servers) is hosted AFAIK.

Blackmesh was the name of the hosting provider our servers are with. They merged with Contegix.

If you are not logged in to Daz Connect then you could have opted in during your first startup to the anonymous event logging that we use to see what feature of Daz Studio are/aren't being used to figure out where to put development resources. You can disable that in the preferences, if you want to turn it off. I'd try and look up your account in there, but it's anonymous so I don't have any way of figuring out if you do/don't have it enabled on my end.

I expect Sevrin meant Daz the application and not Daz the corporation. I find that Daz can take its sweet time while shutting down.

Oh, okay.  I just want you to know that I only ever use the booby sliders to make clothes fit right.  Sometimes it takes a while...

Which is an example of the wisdom of calling the applicatuion DS or Studio if a contraction is desired.

So it sounds like it took them about as long as it takes Daz Studio to shut down.

Applicaution: malware that will empty your bank account through a process of endless sales.

Should come with a health warning.

Meh.  It's all been downhill since Wanamaker's closed.  Don't even mention who's in the Wanamaker Building in Philadelphia these days.  It's an indignation I tell ya!

Aye    The name of the application is "Daz Studio", which is more appropriately shortened to "Studio" or "DS". "Daz" is a shortened form of "Daz 3D", which is the name of the company.

DAZ stands for Digital Art Zone, in case anyone's interested

Historically that is correct, but I think that is no longer true. I believe that Daz 3D no longer considers Daz to be an acronym and no longer uses the Digital Art Zone terminology.

It is interesting that Daz looks at what features are being used to decide where to place development resources. That would imply that features that users shy away from because they don't work right (the updated timeline, for example) will not get the developer resources that are needed to fix them. I hope that user help requests about broken Daz Studio functionality have an impact on these resource allocation decisions.
