Is the current version of DAZ Studio faster than the previous one?

While I had never upgraded to the last version of DAZ Studio since last year, I just installed DAZ again. And on my under-performing computer, it seems significantly faster. For instance, an Iray preview loads very quickly while it was sometimes taking ages before.
The only other explanation would be that having a lot of content in the library slows down DAZ Studio (since having just installed it, my library is almost emty), but I can't see why it would.

Daz Studio 4.11 was slower than 4.10
Depends on what you mean by faster and what version you're comparing.
Having a lot of content seems to cause the initial load of the Studio software to take a long time, but after that I don't notice any impact performance wise related to amount of content.
My experience has been that 4.12 is slower than 4.10 for me when rendering in Iray. I think it has to do with how support for OptiX accelleration has changed between the versions, as I have a 980Ti which benefitted from the older Iray implemenation/OptiX accelleration which has been changed/removed from recent versions, whereas newer versions have been optimizing for RTX architecture cards (the 980Ti is not RTX). What kind of graphics card do you have?
I think it's "faster" but it takes up more memory than the previous version in IRAY so if you have a slower computer (like me) the result is a slower program.
I mean faster when I work on the image. Elements load quicker, there's no slow down when I move stuff around or pose, Iray preview appears quicker. The rendering isn't faster, though.
That's probably because you haven't installed your full library. What slows loading down is all the morphs you own, whether you use them or not.
Even if I didn't even load a character, the morphs would increase loading time?
Also, would the morphs affect as well the time needed for an Iray preview?
good question
4.11 was certainly faster with my inferior 980ti GPU
but if you own an RTX card I think the later versions are
