Zeroing a prop

RandomRandom Posts: 205

I tried to save a jewelry bracelet that is figure smart accessory as a support prop because I couldn't adjust it as is very well on the figure. Unfortunately the saved prop kept it's way off center rigging coordinates (not sure if this is the correct term). How does one fix this, zero the coordinates to the physical center of the prop?

  • Are you wanting to keep the item where is is but move the centre point (which you can do with the Joint Editor tool) or are you wanting to centre it in the world (Align pane with a new null created at the origin slected, then the bracelet)

I was thinking of having it as a prop with, as you describe it, centering it in it's own world with a new null. Is there a tutorial on how to do this?

  • Create a new Null (Create>New Null) and it should appear at the origin, select the Null then the prop, open the Align pane and select Align Centres (or, if you want the item to rest on the fllor, Align Bottoms for Y) and click Apply. Now you can just export the scene as an OBJ and reimport, using the same preset in the options dialogue each time, to bake the new position.
