My Alt button doesn't work

It just stopped working.  I have to load and then move characters manually now.  Any ideas why the ALT feature stopped working at random?

    Does it just not work in DS, but works everywhere else?

    Yeah it works everywhere.  I'm using it all the time and have 2 alt buttons.  

    Basically what happens is nothing.  No dot.  It was working fine and then nope.

    Does reloading your layout fix it?
