Hey WendyLuvsCatz is that a different software ? Or

can it be used with daz ?

is a stand-alone software but can export mov or mp4 with alpha to composite in a movie editor

even Blender video editor which I use as well as Hitfilm Express both free too

    https://borisfx.com/news/now-available-particle-illusion-standalone-it-s-free/

the $299 paid plugin works with Adobe After Effects etc if that's your preference

an example where I actually did the still renders in DAZ studio

the fire was both Hitfilm and Particle Illusion

the candle flames and smokes Particle Illusion .mov layers

it does all sorts of particle and can be animated along paths too

can also match that in Hitfilm and keyframe it too

  • You can export your character along with animation to Unreal Engine 4 and create the trail there.

  • Omg that's awesome Wendy can you teach me how to do that ? That will make my animation look 1000 times better ? And thanks but I don't know how to use unreal lol

well I have only been using Particle Illusion a short time myself

so probably the blind leading the blind

are lots of tutorials on Youtube for it

I just render out mov files to composite in Hitfilm

  • Ah no worries then Wendy I shall have a look you say it's free ? Thanks for your help :)

  • hey, wendy I tried using particle illusion but I cant add images or videos to it is that only from the paid version? don't want to buy it and I'm wrong XD

you can do a bit of a trick using a basic particle and adding an image to that

or you can do what I do, use a program called Overlay to place clickthrough ghost images over it for reference

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/overlayapp/

and there is no point in buying it if you don't have an editor its compatible with as a plugin anyway

  • thank you so much for help WendyLuvsCatz well i do have Vegas pro that is were i create my videos so I'm thinking i will buy the full version :) thanks for this :)

being someone on a budget, finding innovative ways to do stuff for free is my specialty.

(I earn less a week than that costs!)

I would try a few different options to see what works best

hide your figure and sword and parent something to it to render maybe even a dforced strip then post work that behind it blurred

or use a parented dforced strip with an emitter texture

use motion blur in post work

render just the sword with the figure hidden and apply some filter to that in Vegas

there are just so many options and possibilities

including the two I myself would use and didn't suggest

first, I am a Carrara and iClone user, both have particles too easy cheeky

or as suggested by Superlativecg Unreal Engine

also the one that does everything Blender

OK, since @WendyLuvsCatz said it first :)

This is absolutely trivial in Blender.

It took me all of 3 minutes to make a vertex group on part of a blade, set that as the density map for a particle system in Blender and fiddle with particle count, lifetime, lifetime randomness, and field settings ( gravity ), until it looked right for a simple arcing movement. All that remained was to make an object to render the particles. I didn't post anything because I didn't know how to get it back into Daz Studio.

  • So you could adjust the lifetime, the particle size, and the object to use for the particles and it materials and emission, I didn't know what you were going for. But the point is you've got particles, and you can do whatever you want with them.

I don't know, you might also be able to play around with the motion blur with an exaggerated shutter value and compose it in post.

And then there's always Mantaflow, which I haven't used yet, and event he old fluid sim would work as well, if your looking for a firebrand type of sword.

The possibilities are endless once you give up on Daz Studio for anything other than its great assets.

    Sword video and blend file

I don't know if Cosmicdawnseries is one of them but there are a few purists who wish to do everything in DAZ studio. cheeky

A couple including it's original poster in a thread seeking DAZ animators for their production.

Are certainly cutting a yoke for themselves IMO.

I am very much of the find the right tool and have a big toolbox school of thought.

Blender does render png with alpha so it can be postworked too if an FBX of the sword movement is used.

Blender also has video editing and can do animated textures so the particles could be matchmoved to an image series rendered in DAZ studio.

Personally I would use the overlay software I linked and choose key points along the timeline  for Particle Illusion to match.

That's certainly a wise dictum. And judging by the fact that you always seem to pull things out of nowhere and say "lookee here..." it apparently  works in practice :)

I haven't yet found a practical limit in what can be done in Blender. There always seem to be some genius who used material nodes or drivers to do something that I would have said is impossible. Even for this, I bet there's a way to do it all with material nodes alone that I'm just not creative enough to see.

  • thanks for replies guys :) ill try some of these methods but I want to get particle illusion I think because there's other awesome particles with it like flames explosions i think it would be a good investment :) thanks :)

Not sure if this helps, but 3Delight can do motion blur (Advanced tab)
