lip syncing in Daz Studio

I'm trying to create an animation in Daz (64 bit version) which involves dialouge, so I figured some kind of lip sync would come in handy.. but I seem to be running into one roadblock after another. for starters:
1) apparently, Mimic (the only software that supposedly works in Daz that I've found so far) only works in the 32 bit version..
2) it won't work on Gen8 characters

I use a lot of characters and sets from Daz Studio for basic animations and I'd like to continue using them if possible.. can anyone give me any advice or point me in the direction of something that will work better (or at all) with the 64 bit version of DS?

you can save the lipsync from the 32 bit as a pose file to use in the 64 bit

Every time I've tried so far, something goes wrong and the application goes unresponsive.. then I have to reboot my computer because it won't let me open either version.. and on the off chance that doesn't happen, I still have to reboot my computer because it won't open the 64 bit version after i've opened the 32 bit version.. it's quite frustrating, and I honestly don't know enough about these programs.. just enough to make still images and some super basic animations that are basically an overglorified flip book. haha

For 64 bit lipsynching ,with G8, you need to buy the Daz Mimic live plugin or the Anilip2 plugin from the Daz store ..or the third party Facemojo plugin however you need an Apple Iphone X or higher for Facemojo

I actually did purchase and install Mimic Live, but can't find it in the UI anywhere. which is why I was trying the method of swapping back and forth between the 32 and 64 bit versions.. for some reason, I got this idea in my head that the product I bought only worked for the 32 bit version..
the user's guide is no help at this point so far, and there are no tutorials (that I've found) that aren't 10 years old and therefore usless to me since daz studio has been greatly transformed since the publication of the available videos.
is there a video that I don't know about? somebody please point me in the right direction.. I'm sorry if I'm not sharing the needed info right off the bat.. to be honest, I'm not sure what pertenant info is needed to help get this ball rolling.

The Daz Mimic live plugin says it does not support Genesis 8 Figures on the store page, which is why I never tried it.  Does it in fact work with G8?

Nearly a year ago I did a review of mimic basic (32 bit) the disontinued mimic pro3, and mimic live.

Mimic live workS with both G3/8 using the G3 DMC config file that should be in your product library

Your only other options for Daz studio are the Anilip 2 plugin make your own determination if the cost is justified by the results.

And of course there is the Iphone based "Facemojo"but be aware that the co creators of facemojo have "parted company" and now have two competing products neither of which will be coming to the Daz store it seems

What is the name of the product competing with Facemojo?  I just bought an iphone X and I'm ready to get the software but if there is another one out there, I would like to take a look before I buy Facemojo!!   Just went to YT to do a search and came up with Kinectic Motive.  Is this the software you are talking about?

Free Nomon (Kenneth) and Laylo (I think he's Landon) have gone their separate ways. Laylo came up with the name for Face Mojo and has been selling it on his website. Free Nomon has been working on it for over a year and the first videos on YouTube are using his code and changes to the blend shapes. He's going to come out with a new updated version he will announce on his YouTube channel. Face Mojo that Laylo's selling is not the product developed by Free Nomon.

Free Nomon responded to my e-mail and said

"Current Facemojo is no longer affiliated with the original product of mine and will be sold with a diferent name, Facemotion3d for daz (and other platforms such as maya, unreal, unity, blender, max and cinema4d)"

It will be faster, have improved blend shapes and more user control.

Sounds like the one to wait for!

  • You can use a free lip syncing software called Papagayo.  There is a free script on sharecg.com that converts its output for DAZ Studio.  Here is an animation I made using it and my own script that I wrote in another programming language before I found out about the script on sharecg.

So Facemotion 3d is Free noman.  Then there is a third one available too, the one I mentioned above, Kinetic Motive.  Same principle, plugin/script with blendshapes to inject usung facial mocap from Facecap, for Daz and Blender.  They are offering blendshapes for Gen2 thru Gen8.  Interesting thing about Kinetic Motive, though.  They are also offering face rigs for use in Maya, 3dsMax, etc for Gen4 thru Gen8.  I will be checking out all three.  I wonder when someone will come out with an app for full body mocap using the iphone.

  • Be sure to watch the videos for proof of performance. Some need work.

  • New video from Free Nomon!
