Any way to tell dForce not to intersect with certain body parts?

in The Commons
I recall that, before dForce, one could tell dynamic clothing items not to intersect with certain nodes. I'm using an old Optitex boyfriend sweater with a V4-based character, with dForce applied to the sweater and the sleeves removed via the opacity channel. Is there a way to tell dForce not to intercect with the character's arms and forearms so that the body of the sweater doesn't wrap around them?

If the body is attaching to the arms, that's probably the smoothing modifier set too high, and that will continue with or without dForce.
You can make dForce ignore body parts by selecting the body part and in Parameters under Display set "Visibie in Simulation" to Off.
I'm not using a smoothing modifier in this instance, but I'll try your other advice! Thank you!
Hmmm... are you referring to the body part of the character or the clothing item?
if you've removed the sleeves via opacity you'll want to set their visible in simulation to off in the surfaces tab too.
but pretty sure sevrin was refering to turning the arms off on the character, use the node selection tool, select the part to hide from simulation then in parameters>display>visible in simulation set it to off.

What's happening is that the loose fitting body of the garment is intersecting and wrapping the arms. Might be time to recognize the point of diminishing returns on this effort and select another garment.
I never did get the original garment to behave, but this older technology dress for V4 cooperated very nicely with my heavily tweaked (and re-shaded fpr DAZ Iray) iteration of Blackhearted's GND4.2: Athletic, whom I call Belinda. I consider it a personal and artistic challenge to try to at least approach photorealism with a combination of older and newer technology.
