Crash while rendering after upgrading to 4.12.1.118

After upgrading to 4.12.1.118, rendering a scene that used to render with no problems will now crash Daz Studio 100% of the time. I did not change any settings or anything in the scene. Simply updated studio to version.

The crash occurs as the render is preparing the scene just before the first iteration. I can render basic scenes no problem, but something is draining the memory with larger scenes that never had issues before.

In the proccess tab, Daz Studio continously climbs up until it uses up all 64GB of memory before it crashes.

I had a similar issue a while back and solved it by downgrading to the previous version. Sad to see it's still a thing.

Thank you. Is there an easy way to roll back to the previous version? The install manager only shows the latest version.

If you don't have a back up of the old installers then you can ask via a support ticket. Before you do that, however, what nVidia driver are you using? Is it just certain scenes that are crashing (and didn't before)?

I tried installng the latest Nvidia driver and it made no difference. Before that, I had the most recent driver before the new one was released.

It is only in certain scenes. Ones that hit the memory harder with more objects. As I remove props from the scene, it will eventually not crash. But in the previous version of daz, it didnt show any signs of stability problems. Would effortlessy render the scene before. Now it drains my memory until it runs out.

  • check on the download manager through the update I think I remember it leading to a list of previous versions you can chose from when it expects you to select the latest update
