Problems with Hair after installation of new products

Hi there,

I have installed a few hair products that I just bought in the store and when I load the hair it looks all werid. 
I have the same problem with another hair product from another artists. 
These are supposed to be good quality products but I can't use them like this. (I have attached a screenshot)

Does anybody know what may be wrong with my installation?

Nothing wrong with your installation these are dforce hair and many PA's have them load this way so that they drape proper when you pose and then run the simulation so the hair is not sticking into the figure thus causing it to not sim properly.

That sounds very sensible!
I guess I need to dive deeper into how to use simulation. I did try it but it was all messed up after I did that. I have been a bit lazy in the context of watching tutorials and reading the manual. I guess it's time to dive deeper.
