I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this, I've mostly been an occasional lurker, don't post all that much, because I don't get to do much with 3d art in the last year or so. But I'm trying to become more active with my art, and I need some help. The bit that I've done with 3D has been with Poser. I want to get into using Daz more, but I don't know how to do things like Ambient Occlusion, or making things glow, and other objects reflect the glow, or accept the color of the light. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where I can go to learn things like this? It seems like there's such a learning curve transitioning from the older versions of Poser over to Daz.

TBH you would probably get more help if you let me move this thread over into the New Users Help Forum

The simplest way to get Ambient Occlusion is to use the uberEnvironment light, which can provide image based and bounce lighting as well. You will find that in
/Light Presets/omnifreaker/UberEnvironment2 though you will need to adjust it, or use one of the presets, to get AO and to set the quality. You can use Ambient Colour and strength to fake glows, as you do in Poser except that in DS the ambient is multiplied with the diffuse so for a visible effect the diffuse colour need to be light, or you can use the uberArea shader on a selected surface for true light emittance /Light Presets/omnifreaker/UberAreaLight/
