Any downloadable "default" scene with light and render settings already done?

I know that it depends on what you use and that there is no TRUE 1-click solution, but I was wondering if this exists:

A saved scene with lights and settings from the basic daz studio (so no additional items required) with a solid starting point for a general light and settings setup.

Since we are talking about basic assets from the base program, I assume it would be free, but at this point I wouldn't even mind if it's a paid product.

I feel that even with tons of lighting solutions and tutorials, I don't quite 'get it' and would like to start from a solid base to analyze the different parts.

  • you could have a look at the free lighting set from second circle on deviantart, its a decent setup for portrait renders

  • Thanks for pointing those out, grabbed them, but I'm looking more for a saved scene, so that there is also render settings, camera settings and whatever else, fitting to the specific lights

These will all be paid products, but that's mostly because the only freebie light set I've downloaded has already been mentioned: Second Circle's free set on DA. They are nice for a starting point for portraits.

The BOSS Pro Light Set and LI Incandescent sets have a lot of the features you've listed. I use all of those a lot. My light sets here include the scenes used in the promotional renders, but there are no full render setting presets, as I tend to assume what works on my weird computer setup will not work as expected for others. Keep in mind that the scenes load only with the lights, cameras, and whatever props are included the set, not with the characters/clothes/hair, etc. That's up to the user to add. :)  Also, you might take a look at PaperTiger or Sveva's light sets on Renderosity. There are also DM's sets over there, which are excellent because they include the props, scenes, settings, poses... all the awesome stuff.  I hope that helps a bit!

EDIT: There's also 3Diva's Easy Light and Render set, which is excellent.

  • You might find something of interest in Dreamlight's store.

If you are rendering with Iray,  there is a default hdri already included in the base daz studio environment setup.  If you add a clothed character and nothing else, and hit render, it will render using the hdri illumination. Works with most Genesis 3 and all Genesis 8 figures.

If you want to render with daz studio 3Delight, daz does provide some zero dollar starter bundles with scenes that can be great learning tools.

ALso have a look at these  https://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models

You can set up the SC lights and whatever HDRI works for you, maybe a camera or two, and then save that as a scene once you are happy with it.  Then set that scene file to Read-Only.

In Preferences, under the Startup tab, you have the option to choose a scene file, so that Daz Studio starts with that scene opened.

Thanks, I do know that that is possible, which is why I wanted to know if another persons saved scene exists to download, cause I still haven't found ideal settings. Doesn't help that my PC is too slow to do several test renders and only change a bit every time.

Thanks, will look at those. I tried light sets (like from papertiger) before, but even with those it somehow did not look good. Probably cause I just don't get every aspect to cooperate (light + camera settings + render settings), so those one click lights still are not what I'm looking for.

From the description of some other links you posted, they look promising.

I have been mostly getting by with an IG "easy iray studio" set -- I think there are several along these lines -- and in 3DL, Dreamlight's Canyon Extensions set has very nice sunlight, and a skydome.

Merlin's Church similarly has a basic night scene IIRC, and Magix 101's Secret Valley has a scene that might be described as "cloudy bright". I'll be darned if I can figure out exactly how that works though. )-:

Yeah, that's exactly my issue. I see those 1 click lighting solutions, but I still do something wrong, cause they look nothing like on the promo pictures.Hence my request for a full save of an empty scene, because I believe my error lies somewhere between the general render and enviroment settings.

Best example: I tested the Canyon Extensions. Loaded it up, loaded a character, hit render: almost a black screen with very dark outlines
