This product is on sale right now.

It's aabout the best looking planet earth model on DAZ, but it's not Iray from what I can tell.

Will it render in Iray?

Yes, but it will take some work. There were discussions about this, not recently, but still valid.

Blue Planet - Orbital View. Iray???

    Blue Planet- who owns this?

Not without a fair amount of work... it isn't impossible but there will be a deletion or manipulation of the skydome at the very least and playing with emission to make it as bright as the 3dlite version.

    Thank you for the replies.

There is an Iray product by The Philosopher, Planet Earth UTRA HD 32K for Iray, which is also fantastic, so I will probably get that one, since I'm not so technically good at converting 3Delight to Iray.

Oh, it's not so hard. There aren't that many parts to convert, and the Iray Uber base does well enough. Select the part, apply the Iray Uber base (with CTRL-double click to get the option to ignore images), and that's about it. Replace the star field with a starry HDRI for the Environment map, tweak the sun intensity, and you're good to go. I find the bump setting a little high on the ground and clouds. Took all of 15-20  minutes (if you ignore the other 30 minutes fiddling with the atmosphere SSS settings, which contributes absolutely nothing).

You are limited to a small slice of the planet, unlike the Planet Earth UTRA HD 32K for Iray, which gives you the whole globe. Still, this is what it can do...

    Wow! That render is beautiful!

Well, I understand what you are saying, but I use DAZ for as my painting reference only, so it's better for me not to spend much time on the renders since they are not the final product I am after. The UTRA HD will suffice, and I can do the tweaking in the actual painting. :)

I wonder if Aako has considered making a "Blue Planet 2.0" with the additional features present in Red Planet (Iray, HDRI, 360 globe)? Perhaps the market for it is relatively small?

An interesting feature or expansion would be different configurations of continents to portray planets other than Earth. Optional city lights would be cool, too.

It's a beautiful product. I wish it could be updated. :)

I rendered it with 3DL at massive resolution and used that image as a backdrop for the iray renders.  Easy workaround.

The "????" is supposed to be a thumbs up emoticon. It doesn't work on here I guess. Anyway, "thumbs up" on the good idea. :)
