Difference between MDL and RSL MAT

Opened up my Content Library for Genesis 8 female figure. There are two MATs, one for MDL and one for RSL. What is the difference? Why would I use one over the other?

    MDL is Iray. RSL is 3Delight.

    If you're rendering with the Iray render engine use the MDL. If you're rendering in 3Delight use the RSL mats.
