Copying an item from an environment

I bought the forest camp product. It contains a stump. I need this stump a second time in that scene.

This stump is connected to the 'parent' 'forest camp main'. But it is neither a parent-child relationship (which I could break easily) nor a group. I did not manage to extract that stump, to safe it individually, to move it or to duplicate it.

What can I do to have a second stump in my scene?

  • One option is to use the Geometry Editor (from the Tools menu) to select it - if you are lucky, with the tool active and the Tool Settings pane open you will be able to click the + next to oen or more surface groups to select the stump; another possible option is to click on part of the stump, press ctrl * (cmd *  for a Mac) to select all connected polygons, and perhaps then ctrl/cmd click to select another part and again use ctrl/cmd to select connected until you have the whole thing. Once you have the stump selected right-click in the Viewport and under Geometry Editing there should be an option to delete the unselected polygons, leaving you with the stump. Once you have the stump you can either export as OBJ and reimport (take care to use matching presets in the options dialogue) or you can use File>Save As>Support Assets>Figure/prop Asset to save a new native asset. Reload the base scene, load/import your prop and you will be ready to render.
