Cloning an object (yes it can be done)
A while back, I asked if it was possible to 'cut and paste' objects in a scene. I had created a barrel with a fire in it for an alley scene and wanted a couple more. The consensus was that I should create the barrel outside the scene and merge it in as I needed instances. Ok. That works. BUT!!!! I purchased Karl Knarr's Indoor Lighting Tutorial Set. In the tutorial, Karl shows how to create instances of objects (select object then CREATE>NEW NODE INSTANCE). Each instance of the object can then be manipulated and edited. Also, if you are really looking to get better renders of indoor scenes, this tutorial set is AMAZING. As a bonus, as Karl works through lighting each scene, he gives you tons of tips not directly related to lighting but are super useful. (did you know that you could calculate within parameter windows? IE, you want to move the Z axis twice what it is now, just * 2 the current number within the box. Want to raise the object up 20 centimeters? Type +20 after the current Y number. Just a couple of the many handy tips I got from the videos.
Great presentation. Lots of cool tips. It goes at a nice rate without bogging down in super technical stuff and is fun to watch.

It must have been a while if neither instances nor Edit>Duplicate (which ceates a second full copy of the items, not isntances) were mentioned.
Just updated your product link as it was going to the customers product library and not the actual product!
