Updating and Using new DAZ Characters and Sliders while using DAZ

Between having too many characters and addons from DAZ3D itself, plus Renderosity and other smaller sites (plus the fact that my PC is getting on in years I'm sure) it takes almost an hour to load in some characters (even base Genesis 3 or 8s).  So generally speaking I keep the program up and running for a couple days while I'm working on an image, but sometimes I'll get a new character that I want to load in or at least try out it's Mats. When I refresh I can see the character in my library bar, but it won't load the character (which would take too long anyway) or the materials.  And the shape sliders don't even appear until I restart the whole thing.  Is there anyway to load in an installed character and use them without restarting the program?

If it's taking almost an hour to load characters, you probably have some errors to work through.

Thanks for the quick reply!  I realize that it probably is.  I've seen dozens of people with that same long load time problem, most of them with the "Duplicate Files" notification, but I've never seen a solid solution.  I've learned to live with it by just keeping a project up until I'm done with it, or I'm willing to open it back up and come back to it later in the day, but when I get a cool character that I want to drop into my exisisting project then it becomes annoying again; especially when I can refresh my library tab and see and click them and nothing happens until a restart.

Taking a guess you need more ram. It sounds like the computer is running out of ram and dropping to virtual ram which is on the hard drive and can be extremely slow.
