Are Eyes Unisex? Contact Lens Builder for Genesis 8 Female(s)

I have trouble understanding how eyes are also gender specific? Could this product be used flawlessly on G8M?

    Those are geoshells, so I guess a geoshell is gender specific. Regular eye textures are not however.

    Sigh... you are most probably right about this. I was on the fence between Lens Builder and this other product (https://www.daz3d.com/project-eyeray-next-gen-and-merchant-resource-for-genesis-8) but will have to go with the latter as I don't want to be tied down to only one gender or the other.

    Contact Lens Builder is unisex! Don't know why it's listed as female product.

    @Hylas - how sure are you? ... (sadly, I have already purchased the other product mentioned above and removed Lens Builder from my cart)

    You might be thinking of geografts, which are gender specific. Geoshells are UV specific and since G8M and G8F have the same eye UVs, the product works on both. I have tried it. Unfortunately I'm in a rush and can't post examples right now.

    Then DAZ really should update the product to be clear about this. For one, they just missed out on one sale (mine).

    A lot of products haven't had the right dependencies in the store lately, I've noticed.

    In the "Tired of Bad Metadata" thread, a Daz employee said they overhauled their uploading system about a week ago, which is about when I started noticing the issue. I presume the two are related.

    Honestly, this one is inexcusable since G8F is even mentioned in the actual product name... not too much to do with metadata or otherwise.

    For what it is worth, I've been using this product (Geoshell Eye Builder for Genesis 8 Female ) on males without any problem at all. This picture amongst others. I'm not sure why they say it is for g8f, but the eye builder works and I assume the lens builder would as well. In the case you do want the product but hesitate because of it being for g8f.

    @CarolaO That's a beautiful product! Again, I don't know why they choose to alienate a portion of the potential buyers by naming it G8F if it's unisex... I would have bought these products in an instant. I am assuming though that this product does not show up in Smart Content when G8M is selected in the scene?

    I have made an eye product and can tell you that the eyes are unisex for each generation of figure.

    You would be correct, it does not show up for G8M if the filter by context is checked. I generally tend to have it unchecked and search for either Eye or Builder which will bring it up (for me atleast).     They definitely have, I've been one of them. I wanted to buy it so badly when it first came out but didn't because the name and requirements very much implied that it's for G8F and G8F only. If they'd called it "Geoshell Eye Builder for Genesis 8" or "Geoshell Eye Builder for Genesis 8 Males(s) and Female(s)," I would have picked it up on day one for more money than I'd be paying today.

    Now that I know, of course, I'll go ahead and get it and likely not even wait for my usual 75% off or better rule. I think it'll be great for a G8M character of mine who has distinctive eyes. But had I not happened to see this thread...

    Hiya,

    Yeah I'm sorry about that. I usually just focus on genesis female for product names as male stuff doesn't typically sell as well as female.

    But yeah, these will work on genesis 8, and 3 male/female. Since their UVs are the same.
