Not sure what this is...

So I just downloaded DAZStudio 4.6 a few hours ago on my Windows 8 computer. Everything was running properly, ran through the interactive tutorial without a hitch. Went to download the reward daggers and they weren't showing up. I shut down and reopened the program and this is where the fun begins.

I opened the program and ALL of my assets were missing. I went looking through my computer and as far as I could tell they were just gone. So I uninstalled everything, content and program alike, then reinstalled everything I could. I opened up the program and, lo and behold, all my assets were back in their proper places. So I attempt to open the Dagger Dancer tutorial, but I get an error message saying certain files are missing. I hit okay and end up with something like this...

Right click little lined box on right of content and try reimport metadata, your content manager may have stopped running

    Tried that, same result :\

I looked more closely at the error, apparently what seems to be missing are the .dsf files.
I.E. Tried to put a basic female on the scene and it says "Some assets needed to load the file were missing...The following files could not be found:
    /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis/Base/Morphs/DAZ 3D/Base/FBMBasicFemale.dsf
    /data/DAZ 3D/Base/Genesis.dsf"

check your download paths in DIM for the Genesis esentials and make sure under preferences you have the same paths in content,
hopefully a helpful admin will pop in here and show you some screenshots
I have no computer at moment so cannot, was just browsing forum so thought could help.

You need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager

The screen that pops up will show you where DAZ Studio is looking for your library folders. Make sure that you have the correct path for BOTH DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats listed.

If you installed your content using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) then it will all have been put (by default) into :

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

The errors that you are getting, are because DS cannot find the 'data' folder, so it looks like you have not entered the paths correctly.

I greatly appreciate your help, I was honestly expecting to get flamed or something for "reposting" because I bet I'm not the only person this has happened to. I'm looking into the download paths now.

Ok, I may have found something. I looked at the files in both the My DAZ 3D Libraries (Documents and Program files) and neither of them contain .dsf files. They all contain .duf files though. Could that be causing the issue?

I see a User handle, I see Drow in it, so stand up and show your drowishness with a Avatar some time in the near future. Not that I trust another Drow as far as I can throw them but it is nice to see the others that are wondering the realms as I do.

I will most certainly take care of that, as soon as I figure out why my people look like Lego mutants >.<</p>

I'm with Jimmy, after you did a full re-install I think your content paths need to be set up properly again. Once that is done a Reset of the Database and a clean Re-Import for the full paths should fix everything,
And Next time your Database fails please do not go Nuke everything as it is much easier to fix the broken database with everything still set up than it is to set up everything over and over. I know many things to recover a broken Database, just because content is not listing in DAZ Studio does not mean anything big is broken and very often its a easy fix.
Most of us Admins and CV's know how to help in just such a situation.

Thank you guys so much, I managed to figure out what happened with your direction. During install the download manager sent a fair chunk of the necessary files over to the Documents folder of the Admin account I installed the program under. With the missing files back in play, everything is working as it should again. Now, to make that drow >:)

Cool, As you can tell I'm an Old School AD&D Greyhawk type myself. Even have a link to the beginning of my story in my Sig line.
