Link to the image, not the thumbnail. And please make sure you crop the image if the figure is nude.

    Are these dForce hairs?

  • Try rendering to see if they show up. Strand based hair doesn't show up in viewport and iray preview. But it will show up once you hit render.
  • Please help, my character looks like Golum.

-Thanks, got it and sorry, got it blush

    Are these dForce hairs?

    - The explanation page for the products don't mention dForce hairs. Also, I try to simulate them, but I get an error, so I'm guessing nothing to simulate.
"Error preparing objects to simulate and collide"

    - Cool. So, I rendered and got a result in my Render Library, but still the same. Very thin. sad
The hair seems strand based (they are one strand and have no faces in wire view mode).
Is there a render setting for 'strand based hair' to show up properly?

[Ashan 8 Pro bundle hair 'Atlas Hair']

After exporting as an OBJ or FBX file, I render in a 3rd party software and get this result.

The detail of this hair says "for your male character who wears his hair long, proud, and with confidence"...........

    Not my character... please help.

Yes that is a peculiarly made hair IMHO. It does work. Beside the icon for loading the hair, there is an icon to turn on the preview. Have the hair selected, the surfaces selected, and launch the icon. May take a few attempts but it does work. I made a different icon for the launcher so I would remember this for this hair. It seems to be the "only" way to make the hair visible even for the render.

Have to click a preview icon.png

Wow. Thank you Catherine! That "Click to see Hair" is in the materials folder.
Now I can wear my Atlas hair long, proud, and with confidence! =D

I still have a problem with the [Boaris for G8M] by Rawart.

Not with the product, but with my lack of understanding how to use it properly.

Thanks FenixPhoenix! The hair does show up once I hit render, so it's all good.

[Texture Shaded / Viewport Iray / Rendered in that order]

But I want to use him outside of Daz and when I export Boaris as FBX and open in a 3rd party software, I get no 'fur' on him.
    [FBX export setting]

And he doesn't look like a tough and rough Boaris, but like a smooth piece of bacon... Please help!

  • you'll need to select his fur and in the parameters tab under general>line tesselation, set viewport tesselation sides to at least 2 before you export.

but you might land up just crashing the export as there can be a lot of geometry.

doing this and changing general>simulation>preview pr hairs to on will also solve your problem of seeing the fur in the iray preview, but will make studio slower to respond in the viewport.

Thanks skinklizzard, you've solved my problem for the fur.
The exported fbx now shows the fur, but as you said, it's a lot of gemometry...  500,000+ triangles with tesselation@2 and 2,000,000+ triangles @5 surprise

Will have to come up with another way to add fur to Boaris in the 3rd party software.

Thanks everyone for helping out. yes

  • I have that exact same hair looking like an old hulk hogan also and if it wasn't for this post I would of never figutred it out. Im not sure how you got that preview on off to show up in daz I had to go to the folder it lived in and find the preview on off there.
