Help with body injection morphs for Kids 4

I'm a relative newbie and can't find a detailed explanation of how to use injection morphs in the current version of Studio.  I bought the Kids 4 and it did come with injection capabilities, so I bought a fantasy dwarf package that has injection morphs to get the body shape.  How do I find the controls and/or what do I click on to make it work?  I loaded the Kids 4 basic figure, then clicked on the dwarf body and the dwarf body injection file.  The body changed, but only into the general body shape for Kids 4, not the shape for the dwarf (distended stomach, mainly).  I tried loading the basic figure and then clicking on the dwarf injection file before clicking on the dwarf body, but the same thing happened.  If I load the figure and click on INJ/REM, nothing happens either.  Thanks for any help you can give!

  • Which dwarf? It would need to be one that was specifically made for Kids 4.

Inject only merges the morph to the figure, you still need to dial it to see the result.

  • Thank you, I'll try that.  The only control I saw was one that said "realistic" and I tried moving that but it didn't change the body.  I'll try it again, though.

Kids 4 predates any and all Genesis characters, and they were developed for Poser.

The morphs may show only in the individual parts of the character, not necessarily on the main character, check your hands, arms, feet, thighs, etc...

As far as I remember, it took quite a while for fullbody morph to appear for any of the Generation 4 figures (V4, M4, K4, A4...)

  • This specific morph shows a potbelly, but the morph is applied to the full body.  There still is only the slider for "realistic," and no other sliders (and none on specific body parts).  I also tried scaling just the abdomen and that didn't work, either.  I got the (separate) head morph to work, but not the body one.

Morph dials created to be used in Poser sometimes behave a bit oddly in DAZ|Studio. Are you looking in the Posing pane, Shaping pane, or Parameters pane?

One common situation is that a morph dial may only be visible in the Parameters pane, if you click on the "General" section.

Unfortunately, it's not there.  (I added a white rectangle so the screenshot complies with the forum TOS.)

Or in the one that says "morphs" when the base is selected.  (I added a white rectangle so the screenshot complies with the forum TOS.)

How did you install Kids4 and the Dwarf product?

  • With DazConnect.  The icon for the "Kids 4" product disappeared, though, after a few hours.

  • Unfortunately, it's not there.

You don't have the base Kids4 body part selected in the Scene pane.

Or in the one that says "morphs" when the base is selected.

You don't have the "morphs" section selected in the Parameters pane.

Unfortunately, installed Generation 4 morph sets (which includes Kids4) don't work with Connect. Use any of the other installation methods. This is probably why you're having this problem.

I'm surprised you managed to install Kids 4 with Connect, generation 4 figures don't work with that due to how their moprhs work...

Regarding the dwarf, the product page only lists poser as compatible software, so I wonder if those characters may be using pmd injection for custom morphs (there doesn't seem to be a readme so I can't check the file list). That doesn't work in  DS.

Kid 4 might install, but it won't run the script to create the ExP files. Not sure if they would stick around if you ran it manually, Connect likes to stay in control, from what I hear. You could probably load K4, but no morphs would work.

The problem is not the script, it's that Connect installs each product in its own content structure, while Exp morph system used by generation 4 figures needs all the morphs data files to be in the same Runtime to work.

Ah, okay. I should stay away from any discussions that involve Connect, anyway...

  • Thank you!  I didn't even see that it was only compatible with Poser.  Luckily there's an outfit that's compatible with the original K4 body shape as well!  Thank you so much, all of you, for the help and information.

  • Thanks again for your help!

They do work in DazStudio ... just not when installed with Connect.
