Just updated DS Pro 4.6 = flummoxed

Against my better judgement - I updated my DS Pro 4.6 to the newest version this morning, and although I have scenes I've created and saved available in my content library (thank God!!), the Smart Content isn't working hardly at all. When I try to use most items in my Smart Content, I get the message that the ".duf file does not exist". I've tried investigating via Google and the forums here, and although I've found a few queries to the same, I've not seen much in the way of a solution. Everything was working perfectly until I applied the update. I also made sure that I downloaded and installed the PostgreSQL CMS alongside the update. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thanks for anyone's time!

In the Smart Content options menu (the icon in the upper right corner with the arrowhead and horizontal lines), select Content DB Maintenance > Reset Database and hit Accept. Then Content DB Maintenance > Re-Import Metadata and Accept. It will take a few minutes.
What happened is that there was some corruption in the Valentina database, so when DIM transferred the info to the PostgreSQL db some of the paths were corrupt.
Thank you very much for the fast response - but unfortunately the only options I get when clicking the Smart Content options menu are: 1) Make Pane Undockable 2) Make Pane Group Undockable and 3) Close Pane. As an aside, was I also supposed to install PostgreSQL CMS From Valentina CMS Conversion? Again, thanks for your help!
The extra options are not listed in the BASIC Style of the DAZ Studio layout, you will need to use one of the two Advanced layouts to get all the options DAZ Studio offers. That is Windows> Workspace> Select Layout I use City Limits myself as it offers all options DS can display.
Thanks for the help Jaderail - was able to access Re-Import Metadata as per earlier instructions, but still Smart Content is not working. Hope there is a solution :( Again, do I need to install the PostgreSQL CMS From Valentina CMS Conversion files?
In DS, does Help > Troubleshooting > Show Log File have a line that says:
"Connected to CMS: 4.8"
"Connected to CMS: PostgreSQL", or
"Unable to Connect to CMS"?
I'm having the same issue with a lot of my stuff as well after conversion. Tried all the database maintenance things, installed/reinstalled daz/content in different combinations, but nothing seems to work.
You can probably fix it manually though.
Find the item in the content database (not the smart content). Right click and select database, preferred file:
Then select the proper path (the bottom one in this example). This works for me, but I have hundreds of files like this, and I have not found an automatic way to do this yest.
fixmypcmike - I seem to have found a line similar to what you were asking for - BTW - sorry for not responding after a certain point last night - there were fireworks to be set off for the 4th ;) I have enclosed a screen cap of the line of copy. Again, thanks for help! Also thanks DrHemulen for your help - if nothing else works I may have to follow your instructions, but lets hope that someone might be able to help us with a general fix for the situation.
UPDATE: Not sure how fixed - but I will fully accept user error responsibility - I followed fixmypcmike's instructions again concerning the metadata, and presto! FIXED. ALL Smart Content is now fully functional!! For anyone who is having any problems try the instructions above via fixmypcmike concerning resetting data and metadata, and it should work. THANKS to everyone involved for their help!!
Ok sounds good :) Maybe I haven't tried that, as it sounds a lot like it'll kill all the categorizing I've been doing? Does it completely wipe the database down to defaults?
You should do Export USER Data before you do the Reset and Re-Import of Metadata. And when the Data screen opens be sure that User Data Overrides is ticked on. That will save as much of your categories as it can until a error (If any) is read. You may lose some Category work but not all of it.
I use Categories myself. Here is my work flow and so far I have only lost one small part at a time when I have a error.
One adding content to my categories I do one set at a time fully. Once I finish that set I do Export User Data. I then close DAZ Studio and then open it again. I check my work is as I just did it. If so I know my Database worked with no errors and I do the next product. When I have a error my work to the Last file is there but doing more fails. At that point I do the Reset and Re-Import the Metadata and User DATA now it will let me do more and saving keeps working until another error stops it. So far I have only had 3 errors in my Database the needed a Re-Import.
I hope this helps
PS the new PosterSQL Database is said to be even more stable than the old Valentina version. So far so good for me, no errors as yet.
I do believe that if no precautions are taken, resetting could very well reduce the smart content to it's core defaults, so I would follow jaderails's recommendations in saving any content you have created for yourself. Everything I had saved was in my library as "scenes", so it wasn't going to mess anything up for me. If you do reset please let us know if the situation works okay for you. Again, thanks to all for their help!
Thanks Jaderai, I'll try that out :)
Probably a good idea to take backups once in while anywas.
