Do I need carrara on this paid for product?

Hi,

I did email Daz about this but haven't got a reply.

I bought this product https://www.daz3d.com/night-and-day-city

I alway check to see if I need another figure or product to make it work, this mention Carrara but doesn't say I have to have it.

As I installed it, it asked me where Carrara file was, I don't have one so I just put c: drive.

When I open Daz I can't see the product, any help would be great.

Thanks

Yes.   It is a Carrara only product,   will not work in DS     You can use the Daz money back guarantee as long as you purchased within the last 30 days.

You can use it with the Daz to X bridges, though? Do those bridges work with Carrara as well? I thought they were for Daz Studio only.

No, it has to be openable in DS for the bridges.

  • Hi,

Thanks so much for your answers, Is it just me or is that not clearly stated that I need another software even though it says I Daz on the Compatible Software: Daz to Maya Bridge, Daz to 3ds Max Bridge, Daz to C4D Bridge, Carrara

And also says Install Types: DazCentral DIM  which I have.

    This also doesn't help:

    Notes

    • This product includes:
      • 1 Carrara Files Installer

To me that meant I will have to install Carrara files, (I had a rough idea what Carrara was but didn't know I needed to buy it to use this product I bought) I bet I'm not the only one that has done this.

Thanks I'll ask for a refund and will look again for city scape for daz

(I wonder if that's why daz never replied, waiting till the 30 days is up?!!! )

    Thanks once again.

As I said   this product ONLY  works in Carrara.     Which is why it only has Carrara files.   It was incorrectly showing you could use it with the bridges.

We have reported  the incorrect compatible files shown.   It should read Carrara Only.   This should be fixed once the Daz 3d offices open   (It is currently only 6am in Dazland.

No, it has to be openable in DS for the bridges.

In that case, the listing that it's compatible with the bridges is misleading.

  • Thanks,

After reading your posts I looked and found a daz night and day city, (i'll know in the future) so I've asked daz to swap them and keep the extra money.

    Fingers crossed.

You guys were great, thanks *(when I say guys I mean people)

You're welcome.  You should have asked for a refund,  that can be made in store credit to your account,   and then you can  use the store credit to purchase the other product.

Here is similar product that are more realistic:

The version 2 is 3DL but easily converted. The version 3 is iRay. Unforunately they aren't made to work together but can with a bit of scaling.

  • Thanks,

I think I have some of Stonemasons older products. Once I get the other, I will need more so will def get them. thanks

ER... cheeky question, (sorry) I found rendering in Iray takes .... a long time, but what i've been doing for none iray is converting in daz to obj, then using twin motion to render scenes, the quality is amazing  and takes about 5 seconds to render!   (it doesn't allow animation from daz, but I normally render the animation on a layer and put both in AE).

The question is, does anyone have an idea how to save an Iray product to an OBJ to take into something like twinmotion, when I've tried before it messes up so I've had to render Iray in daz.

    Thanks
