For what is the region navigator?

Hi,

I just wanna ask, for what is the region navigator?

I select a body part but, what then? it doesnt open the surface, it doesnt select that bones, what does it? Is its only "job" to show me the region with a yellow border and thats all and if yes, why... is that needed, to whom is it useful?

  • Used in conjunctiobn with the Shaping pane it lets to zoom in and out of the hierarchy when applying morphs - try it with a Genesis figure, noting how the selection of shapes in the Shaping pane changes as you narrow the region down; there's a slider at bottom-left of the Viewport that you can use to move up and down the hierarchy.

Ahhh its for the Shape panel! Thanks :)

I selected them now one by one (not using CTRL/Shift):

why does it highlight in the shape all previous clicked regions and not only the one I have actual selected (in this image just the ears)?

Is that a bug or intended?

  • It's showing the chain of selections which you can move up and down with the slider (if you enable it from the Tool Settings pane) so yes, I think it's meant to do that.

but I have the ear selected and also the hands are highlighted in the shape panel... I am sure a Ear morph should not touch the fingers :O

  • Hmm, yes I get that too. I don't know if it should do that, it does seem a little odd. It might be worth a ticket to ask if it's a bug.

I think it's related to the little slider selector on the bottom left of the viewport.. basically you should find all the highlighted sections into the slider there for an easier access.. but maybe it's just what I thought first time I used it, so I may be totally wrong :)

anyway I think the issue may be into your UI because I found this https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/73486/does-region-navigator-tool-work-as-it-designed-in-ds-4-9

No Richard confirmed it too, that it should not select all.

I was talking about the sliders, as you can see the other user has it, too..

about the rest, in my case as well it does not select biggest groups above what you clicked; it just highlight them backwards until the Actor group; but the morphs are loaded just for what I really selected. but that's what it does for me..

I selected the tool and there does nothing appears, have you anything other here checked?

or does the user maybe just random have it too? ;)

it's definitively from your side.. this is the video tutorial from the tips section in the Shaping tab

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/shaping/videos/shaping/start

as you can see it's there.. maybe problem is the style, maybe the colors, I don't know, i'm just a newbie at the end of the day.. :(
