yet another "what is this product?" thread

as title says, whats the hair used for the star angel outfit? https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-star-angel-outfit-for-genesis-8-females

i looked for ponytail here and rendo, and while i found several, none had the bangs straight down like this.

thanks in advance

  • Looks like OOT's Topmodel Updo. Dial up the length and use the option for straight bangs.

  • ill try that one, thanks!

    well, i AM having some problems, i want to recreate the same style as the promo but the bangs simply dont move, and the bun doesnt dissapear when i choose a ponytail.

    what am i doing wrong?

    is it because the hair is being used on a genesis 8? then how did the guy made the promos, unless he was using a g3 with the costume?

    generally if you autofit hair to another generation, it'll lose all its morphs. You can either parent it and then fitz with it to get it to fit (there's not a great deal of difference between G3 and G8 heads) or buy one of the hair converters from RiversoftArt such as this https://www.daz3d.com/hair-converter-from-genesis-3-female-to-genesis-8-female ;

    I love these threads. Often because I discover something I didn't know I had. This one I knew about, and sadly is a pain to use in Blender once converted to hair particles.

    As it's G3/8, I would change the scene identification; (then change the selection from G3 to G8 or vice versa depending on which way you're moving an item.)

  • oh, wish i knew about hair converter. had to use a different hair for this pic which is an hour and a half into rendering. but im planning to render it again with a diffrent color outfit, so ill try the hair then.

    nicstt's idea is great, definitely the quickest and easiest and it should work well for the reason jakiblue stated. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the artist did in the renders, G3/8F are so similar size-wise.

    Jakiblue's converter suggestion is also excellent. I use the RSSY ones all the time and they solve a LOT of autofit's weird problems regarding morphs. They're not guaranteed, but they're great to have.The downside is that you're stuck within one figure gender unless you want to parent and fuss with it (harder between genders), at least until someone hopefully makes a cross-figure hair converter. At which point I will scream loudly enough to be heard across both the Atlantic and Pacific and my wallet will combust due to fast money leaves it.
