A Norse render competition, yet not a single strand of golden hair or a sky-hued iris in sight. Bummer. :P
why dont you be the first to hit blonde hair and blue eyes
deversity makes the world go around, so all is good
i am glad to see the artwork so far and looking forward to what is to come.
I know, I'm just entertained by the fact that everyone's posting everything BUT that, almost as if they're deliberately avoiding it. I applaud it, actually. :)
But your offer IS tempting... :3
hope you do... the more that enter.... more prizes for the next contest will be holding several as long as peopl are entering
note that the prizes listed are minium.... if alot of people enter and to help in the project the prizes will increase
also we might even start running contest with different subjects at the same time
anyone willing to use any of their clothing or files as prizes i would love to add them
just email me dirrectly rhos2821@gmail.com
Hi Rhos...
I'm working on another render (no he's not blonde... lol) I for one have NO idea what a Norseman looked like. I've searched various places on the internet and can not get any info. That's the hardest part of this challenge... If you want more realistic (to YOUR idea) of what a norseman should look like.. could you please add a description??? I feel like I'm working blind. (Kicks herself for not paying more attention in history class at school) lol..
Also.. please be aware... we are NOT allowed to give you free clothes.. etc.. unless we've made them.. It's against our DAZ agreement when we purchase items. I for one would love to give you something I've made but I have nothing... yet.. I'm not a modeler. I barely know all the bells and whistles in DAZ... soooo much to learn.. sooo little time... :)
Anyway.. I felt you should know... Thanks oodles for the challenge! hugzzzzzzzz

Hi Jarlnorthman... welcome to the DAZ forums... One tiny suggestion... If you RENDER your works then those white lines will go away.. Looks like you may be new to DAZ... Just click the RENDER button and wait.... it will render to another window.... Then you will have to save it somewhere on your computer. When you get working more with DAZ you will learn about lighting-n-such. ;) Hope you don't mind my 2cents... nice job so far :) Thanks for sharing!
lola i thank you for the the info... i did not understand myself what the lines where
none of the poor renderings i have done ever came with them
i hope jarinorthman that you take this as help and not offence and render them and resubmit they will have a better chance at winning then. the judges i have will take such things in concideration
i have started to form the judge pannel.... any one of high artist experience may submit thier desire
voting will be done in 3 sections
artist judge pannel
THG pannel
and then forum votes
each group will name the top 9 entries
1 to 9th. each have a point value 10 pts to 2 points and then it is just mathmadical,
all of the result from each pannel will be posted and then the final winner order
thought i would explain even though it really does not matter to anyone entering
thanks for your time and hope to keep seeing entries
scott

You kidding!? The Nordics are iconic for the blonde-haired-blue-eyed idealism. That's actually WHERE the idealism rooted from. :)

Thank you for the info RCDeschene :)
when i was in denmark while in the military it seemed there was just as much red hair as blonde in the country and when you went to the city alot of darker hair was seen.... but the concept of blonde hair and blue eyes was more of the nazi political party line for a way to give pride to the german people.
in no way do i support or want to justify what the nazi did but we can not blame the germans for all of it... even Gen McCarthy forcasted after WW1 that with all the restrictions we place on them that they would be an issue.. we needed to help them rebuild the country after the war. that is why we do it now except now we go to far and just give them a rebuilt country so they do not invest in a working relationship with us to get it done but thats politics and a sore subject for alot of people... LOL
as for the game world there are several kingdoms that have a quasi norse culture with minor racial appearence difference so have fun with it we will figure what the look like and place them
whew... sounds like a plan to me Rhos ;) I like that idea!!!
(gets back to rendering)
Not exactly. Granted WWII politics widely spread it's idea into the modern world, in truth, Aryan idealism has it's inspiration even as far back as the Renaissance. Many angelic depictions such female monarchs, saints, and even Jesus himself are depicted in classic paintings with golden hair and light-hued eyes with very fair skin. Such renderings were to express attributes such as innocence, purity and divinity from said figures. Darker hair colors were given to characters more were more earthly and bold. :)
Even though the Swedes of the time conducted raids and did their share of pillaging, plundering and raping, they did it inland via rivers mostly into what is now Russia and the Ukraine. It was the Norwegians and Danes, who sailed on the open ocean and devastated most of Western Europe (they are the ones that people most associate with Norsemen and the look of Vikings). Below is a link to an article that has a lot of info and dispels some of the myth about Norsemen and their habits as well as some insight of how they looked.

"Nordic" or "Baltic" type descriptions typically include features such as, "long skulled, very tall, fair skinned, with blond or brown hair and light colored eyes."

any further question feel free to ask i will help as best i can
Oo rhos.. those help greatly.. I think I can make you some more renders now... THANK YOU!
looking forward to them
Was someone asking for blondes? I'll answer.
The texture is based on Danae's Edinburgh with some customization (scar). Clothing is a combination of a few commercial sets from RuntimeDNA. Hair by Neftis.
This is the first set, the "everyday set" of 3 pictures. I'm not sure if I should do the battle pr the church outfit now. Probably battle.
love it
like the use of the scare to add flavor and story in the pic
good job
