Where can I purhcase painted on hair?

Below is from the promo pic of Palmire for G8F.  I have learned from the forum that the hair is painted on and it was popular in V4 but not anymore.  I have seen it a lot on Renderosity, most are on V4 but some G8F products have it as well.  Some even have bun or ponytail attached.  The characters are from different PA so I am wondering if the hair is a third party product that I can purchase for use on any G8F with her own textures, like on a haircap with bun and ponytail.

well there is a tutorial here how to make a LIE (layered image editor) or geoshell  hair cap from a scalp texture in Blender.

I thought it was a good idea especially for self made strandbased hairs but it never caught on again.
