What's a good way to fix (non-DForce) hair clipping through body?

Hey all! I'm working on a scene and I've got all the actors posed just the way I like, the only thing that's stumping me currently is that the hair on one of the actors is clipping through her body and it's noticeable. Other than switching to a DForce enabled hairdo or using the shaping sliders (which I've tried to use to fix the area where it's clipping to no avail), what are some good techniques to manipulate the hair?

  • If the clipping is not too bad you could try a smoothing modifier on the hair with the body as collision object, otherwise you could add a deformer and move the offending bit of the hair around, or if you own it you could probably use mesh grabber to move the hair that is clipping.

  • In order of preference due to ease of use (and laziness), I use:

    1. Smoothing modifier.
    2. Morphs visible in the hair root bone.
    3. Posing the bones in the hair (if any).
    4. dFormer.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Render the area twice with the Spot render tool, one time with hair, one time without hair.  Load them as layers in Photoshop (no hair on bottom), and then simply erase away the hair with the eraser tool.
