Waves On The Beach and Daz 4.6
....wondering if Nerd3D's Waves on the Beach has compatibility issues with Daz 4.6.
Before anyone asks, I am using the Daz, not the Poser version of the set.
For one when I load it the sky backdrop is blank white. It renders OK but looks somewhat washed out compared to when I used it in Daz 3.1. Second cannot change the seabed to a darker which makes for unrealistic looking water as the water disk appears very transparent even though the opacity is set at 100%. Again, this did not occur back when I was still using 3.1.
Also the RT (ray traced) sand textures would not load, and surface setting seems to be inconsistent even when going back to a texture map I previously used.

Something else I noticed was when I opened the Waves on the Beach HTML Guide, all the images had the Windows "broken file" icon.

Hmm... sounds like maybe a install error? I use Nerds Wave on the beach for almost every water plane in all sets. I prefer it over any I have so far. And I do have 4 or so others to chose from. All the Textures work properly and I can fully control all the surface settings just fine. It also kit bashes very well with every other set I have that uses a water plane, I mostly swap out the default ones for Nerds water disk it works so well.
...reinstalled it with the DIM, and still get the same issues occurring. What is even stranger, is sometimes the same water effect looks different when I apply it a different time. One time it looks too transparent, the next it is too opaque.
Another odd issue I get is when I try to use one of the wave morphs (not animations) it reorients the set 180° so the camera is looking towards the dunes rather than out towards the water
When you load the set and various items...
Do you see the map for the sky plane?
Can you change the sea bed colour?
Do the Ray Traced sand textures work when you apply them?
These are just three of the the items that are not working right for me.
That is very odd KK, I'm getting very good consistent use of all content in DS 4.6.3.52. I've set myself up with just one major DIM installed content folder, fully controlled by the New PosterSQL Database Manager and to me the One Content Folder and this version of DAZ Studio has been the best version of DS4+ to date. I have not had one of the errors I did in many of the older versions. I will be loath to update to another version when they release one, this one has been so good to me.
I wish I could offer some advice but I'm just not seeing any errors in anything except pwToon which has been fully documented and reported to the Dev guys by more than just me.
And Yes I can use the set fully just as well in DS4.6.3 as I could in DS3A. Nothing is different at all that I can tell.
EDIT: Tip if you have Per Pixel Shading set to ON in the Prefs many Domes look wrong or even NOT there at all until rendered. I never use it.
...interestig, I;ll have to uninstall it and search for any stray folders and delete them as well (I originally installed it with the old .exe installer back when I first set up my workstation as I didn't have a stable Net connection to use the DIM, so maybe there might be something left over from the original install that is causing a conflict).
I added a Edit about the Per Pixel Shading if you missed it. It does odd things to Sky Domes and a few other sky props...
...checked that setting and it was already turned off.
Found another copy of Waves in my Library/Studio3/Content tree (amazing I never received a Duplicate ID error) which is most likely where the old .exe installer sent it. I deleted all the folders (couldn't find an uninstaller) and then uninstalled/reinstalled Waves with the DIM to the correct locations for both the Daz Studio and Poser Versions.
So I loaded the Daz version it in and this is what I get (using the 3:00 light set). Again no map showing on the sky plane. (Fig. #1)
Next I did several render tests first with the set as it loaded "out of the box".
The first one (Fig. #2) is with the supplied lights the sky looked better (In my scene I am using the Advanced Ambient and Distant Light)
The second (Fig. #3) lit with an Advanced Ambient and Distant Light.
Next are two tests using the "White Sand" and texture for the beach (the "Sand White RT" and "Sand White" shaders still do nothing when I click on them, I can only seem to use the "Tiled White Sand" one)
The first (Fig. #4) is with the original lights. Notice how transparent the water disk looks even out to the "horizon".
The same occurs in the last test with the AOA Advanced lights. (Fig #5)
In all of these tests, also notice the strange grid like pattern further out in the water
None of these look like the results I got rendering this set in Daz 3.0 Advanced. (see next post)
...here is the one of pics I did years ago with Daz 3.0Advanced.
