    @Horo: Thank you very much. I used a stacked terrain from a Weathered Dike fractal, used the coal material in Pro Materials, and tweaked it until I had two different looks. One for the trees and one for the terrain. I chose two additional materials which worked well with the coal material.

    @Art: Read through your last post, again, and realized you're also a poet.

    Here's my third entry. All Bryce except the HDRI from Inside I made a few days ago. No lenses. I had several iterations, the first one with a white disk that looked like the full moon and hence I added stars - and the name.

    Liking the works submitted so far...and love that MoonTree idea, Horo.

    I'm still stuck...you know the way it is - so many ideas, none work in the end...sigh.

    This is my first entry in this challenge...
    Title: California Oranges

    As we leave the Central California San Joaquin Valley on our way home

    in the Sierra Nevada mountains, we pass by a beautiful orange farm at

    the base of the gentle foothills. Many international tourists on their way

    to Sequoia Kings Canyon Parks, pull over to the side of the highway to

    photograph this picturesque farm.

    This challenge took me into the Instancing Lab where I had never been

    before... It was not without the help of the tutorial by Rashad Carter and

    another by Kine_magiK... that I came out alive... Many crashes when I

    tried to instance so many actual trees... So I rendered an image of one

    orange tree and created a 2d picture obj for instancing the trees...

    which worked a lot better. The orange tree was actually 2 of the same

    Bryce tree (I can't remember what type of tree it was) with one rotated

    on the Y axis to make what I thought an orange tree shape should be.

    The oranges were just spheres multireplicated and fit within the tree

    branches.

    Threw a few trees into an old Bryce work (can’t remember - think it was done using boosted IBLfrom one of David’s tuts.,), and the end product came out as a silhouette when Premium option was turned off (though the Premium when on was taking way too long, its effect was quite nice, too).

    Put in a girl image as a terrain at the last minute, just to give it some connection of us to trees.

    @Steve - that's a very nice render. The oranges - have you put them as instances on the tree? They look great.

    @Jamie - yup, unique. I've been a bit in the circle mood for this challenge, it appears.

    Thanks for these wise words. I needed that. You are quite right; it is not about winning, but about learning. Unfortunately I sometimes find learning is too slow for me, if I see all those great works. However, I am still working on a tree (just one), maybe for the contest. Still very far from the picture!
    And your new render of fire not being the end is very good. Something different!

    After doing my minimalist first attempt I though I'd try something a little more "dense".
    There's been some wonderful renders here by everyone and I'm glad I'm not in the "hot seat" for this one.

    @Timothybateman Really like The Lonely Bonsai... It really is like a photograph with the DOF effect..

    @Horo Thank you .. I at first did instance the oranges... but I at that time tried to instance the tree with oranges and well... you know... so I multi-replicated them and I made a render of the single tree with oranges for making the 2d objs that I instanced.

    @GussNemo I really like Lone Sentinel.. the ground texture makes it look as if it were the lone surviver of a lava flow..

    @Jaymahoney very nice like trees we are.... it's almost eerie to me...very cool

    @Lord Ganthor a very nice scene... I really love the exposed roots on those trees and the misty light in the distance.

    Okay time to get busy on my second entry ... I have an idea that's taking me into Hexagon as a first stop...
    Looking forward to seeing more of the same great art that seems to fill these challenges... Yay!

    Nice1, Lord Ganthor....very 'still and quite' wood scene - can hear the rustling of leaves. Too many trees in a work are very hard to pull off, take control of, however, I think you've nailed it here.

    Entering Lothlorien

    Apart from the centre tree these are all Bryce trees. (about 30 of them)

    2 versions, not sure which I prefer

    N1, Chohole....I was going with image one initially, then changed to image two, but on close-up it eventually was one that clinched it (don't know why as both are really great).

    I tried that and just wasn't happy with the results as it almost seemed "forced" or "faked", which is funny considering that the whole thing is really a cheat, being in that it's not real! I may go back and give it a second shot sometime and see if I can satisfy myself....probably not.

    Thanks. My goal was to try and make it like the woods I wandered in my youth, near the Great Smoky Mountains. I got sort of close with it.

    Well after a bit of persuasion from Lord Ganthor and a bit of help from David Brinnen thank you :) have decided to enter my render,
    All the componants come from Bryce including the pro materials for the ground and using Davids tutorial for snow tree's on the tree's

    Here is my entry for the challenge

    My third entry... This one uses trees made in Arbora again.
    The ground uses David & Horo's "Bryce 7 Pro Ground Texture Tiles and Matching Terrain" set and consists of 100 tiles.
    I made the mushroom myself in Bryce and used the Instance Lab to make the fairy ring arrangement.
    The Deer was a freebie from TF3DM.

    Some really nice entries so far. I call this "The Wisdom Tree". Two separate renders for foreground and background as file sizes were becoming an issue. Then i added some mist in photoshop just to get the two to blend together. The main tree consists of parts from downloaded tree models and lattice work in Bryce. Other trees are downloaded or Bryce.

    @Orbital... Outrageous! What a gorgeous scene that pulls you in to see what's in the mist beyond... and love the character on the path.. it really shows the immensity of the environment... love it
