His name was Raul Lunia. It is misspelled in the first post.

Some context for this thread might be helpful (because Google wasn't very cooperative when I Googled him). Apparently Raul Lunia was a vendor called Dinoraul at Renderosity who created dinosaur models. Renderosity did a tribute video for him:

Extremely sad to hear! Dinoraul's creations always surprised me with that wild imagination being present in those, especially more "strange" ones.

We will not forget. Condolences to close & dear of DR...

  • Rest Well Raul! Thanks for your work.

  • Condolences to his family and friends

May he rest in peace. So sad - I do have a lot of his trees and some of his dinos ...

  • NO! Aww damn, I noticed he hadn't made a new product in a while and I was thinking and hoping that he had "graduated" to some big studio or something. That he died is the reason he stopped creating really saddens me.

    He was a legend.

Crazy question, I was actually planning on buying some more of his products soon, does anyone know if the proceeds go to his family or something or how does that work?

You would have to ask that question over at Rendo.

This is so sad; I always loved his dinos (and have a LOT of them) and nature items!

... had been wondering why I hadn't seen anything by him lately - this is pretty much the most depressing answer! A great artist...

    Rest In Peace, Raul

  • His dinos are classic.

    RIP

Just saw this today. Love his dinos and extinct mammals and hoped he'd create more. Very sad. Prayers for his family for their loss. He was a skilled 3D artist and will be missed. Rest in Peace.

I bought a ton of his tree models - just the best!

  •    This is just terrible news, I heard rumors of his death a month ago here but could find no mention of it on Rendo, so I assumed it was just that... rumors!  Then I noticed he hasn't released anything in about a year, so I knew that is not a good sign.  He and Sixus were my 2 favorite creature / monster creators when I first started with Poser 11 years ago, I couldn't beleive the amount of talent these men had and that I could acutally buy their creations, pose and then render them was just incredible, he will be greatly missed indeed.

Our community keeps losing so many classic vendors from the early 2000's... so sad! crying

Raul Lunia had been making (and collecting) dinosaurs since the age of 4 in Estonia.

He was born August 3, 1961, and died October 25, 2019 at age 58.
Cause of death: cardiac arrest, in coma for almost 4 months...

Thank you for all of your great contributions, Dinoraul.
    Rest in peace...
