Well, this is odd. The copy for the G8M version doesn't specify that it's a merchant resource, but "What's Included" starts with:

    • 200 Plus Head and Face Morphs for Genesis 8 Male(s) Merchant Resource (.DUF)

The female version, however, does not.

Hi Gordig, this is exactly why I am asking - The inconsistency between the product name and the product description.

sometimes it means you can redistribute your own character using them but buying the morph set is a listed prerequisite in your product

  • Well that would hardly constitute a merchant resource {if the next user has to buy all the materials used to make a product}.

For best clarification of what the PA intended, it would be best to ask them.

This is the discussion of whether or not 200 Plus is a merchant resource it its original G8 commercial thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2853876/#Comment_2853876

Start at that link, then go on for the next few posts.

I would still advise contacting @Dogz or @Zev0 for further clarification if needed.

Hmmmm... so basically Zev0 confirmed that the morphs could be used in a new, distributable character as long as it had been baked into a new single obj and re rigged. Then I would like to raise another question... does the same apply to the DAZ Original/Official head morphs? Could those DAZ Original/Official head morphs be used in a new, distributable character as long as it had been baked into a new single obj and re rigged?

You need to contact Daz by filing a help ticket to ask your question. Given that other characters released use the morphs without baking them into new OBJs, their requirements may be different. But again, file a help ticket and ask Daz itself your question; they're the only people who can give you a definite answer.

Asking Daz3d.com is of course the best thing to do.

However I suspect the answer is going to be no because nobody has been doing that. Hence the requirement for everybody to own those official head morphs in order for their new characters to work.
